    Anti Fouling Paint.-

Was hearing that in order for the anti fouling paint to be effective doing its homework must put the boat into the water 48 hours after the paint has fully dried out or won't work as intended. Is it a joke, a myth ? How does the anti fouling paint works repelling marine growth on a hull ? Happy...

Suzuki DT55 Prop Spinning when in gear

6 HP Tohatsu 4-Stroke Driveshaft binding

If the motor is used in salt water the lower crankshaft will bind and seize against the crankcase head (47) specially if the lower leg remains sitting in salt water for long time periods without motor use. The round portion of the internal head and the upper drive shaft as well should be well...

    Thermostat housing hole.

Priest patience and a long soak with penetrating oil are key to remove any broken bolt's head. On extreme salted motors in which both threads are soldered as one will need a different procedure which probably won't like watching.... Happy Boating

Intex Mariner 4 modifications and Tips

The issue with such cheap pool toys inflatables is that are made from thin pvc unsupported fabric that flexes too much compared to a fully supported pvc fabric found in more expensive traditional inflatables. Can't inflate them to a higher air pressure to achieve better rigidity or will risk...

    Reliability of 1998 25hp EH

If the motor overheated due to an impeller issue, it's not that devastating as overheating due to poor oiling or lack of lubrication. The latter will screw any motor much worse. Remove the cylinder head and check if the cylinder walls are not scored and the head is not already warped ? If...

    Thermostat housing hole.

Sometimes will break any bolt's head when being unscrewed, much worse on engines working in salt water. If the bolt's thread is visible, apply penetrant oil and let soak for a while. With a pressure plier pressed on the thread rotate it slowly sideways to loosen it little by little. Once...

    Thermostat housing hole.

Better install a new thermo along gasket cover, both are relative cheap and motor will cool much properly and pee better. Before doing so, scrape the internal thermo housing manually, looks bit rusty, If counting with a Dremel rotating tool can use small circular metal brushes to do so and much...

    Thermostat housing hole.

Not an issue, all thermo housings have a water passage built into them, if not thermo will work dry and overheat. Which was the thermo condition found when removed from the housing ? Was the thermo cover gasket in mint cond ? Is this a salt water motor ? This pic belongs to a Yam 85 HP motor...

Replacing carburetor hoses with tygon ?

You're welcome, What's your current Yam 40 model, there's 10 models listed for 1992. If plan installing an OEM Yam fuel filter there's no issue running a fuel/oil premix, usually 50:1 or keep using the wix as long there's no fuel restriction when running say 3/4 to max throttle . Happy Boating
