It's official! Gelcoat is under way. I got two coats in all the predetermined areas except the bilge (ran out of standing room). Things are looking awesome with the gelcoat. Also got my duratec in the mail today so tomorrow the plan is to get the second coat on the bilge and while that's...

No major updates yet, I've been holding off on doing much of any gelcoating yet because its been in the mid to upper 80s in the garage into the night lately plus high humidity... I'm afraid to get started and find out its too humid for the gel to cure properly, plus it being that hot it would...

I think tonight might have been the last application of fairing compound to the deck... I just needed to go back and clean up some fillets. Next step is gonna be a full blown hose down and acetone cleaning... then layout the non skid areas with tape before gel coating

Beautiful weather and a very productive day today... I got all the fairing compound down and sanded... I need to touch up a few small spots still but the major smoothing is done. I also cut the hole in the floor (yes, hole in the floor) for the ski locker cover... was kinda like opening a time...

Last night I got the 2nd coat of fairing compound on... I guess I totally forgot to put pva on the first batch so sanding was super fun... either way, it got done and then put on the 2nd coat.. I had enough left over that I was able to do some of the floor under the dash... hoping to sand...

I can tell I have never done this before as I'm not very good at it, but I was able to put down my first section of fairing compound last night... I started in the bow seat area. I did the top surfaces of the seat boxes as well as the forward area of the vertical walls... This is just the base...

It was super nerve-racking, but i finally touched the grinder to the outside of the hull... There was a pair of spots on the back of the boat where there was a grab bar by the swim platform where the gelcoat was cracked and the glass was kind of sunken down... I eased the grinder into it and...

Got out last night to do a little experiment. I mixed up two small cups of resin, with glass bubbles, and one of which i added surfacing wax. I applied the homemade fairing compound to two small (inconspicuous) areas as a test... After the non-waxed section setup a little bit, I came back...

Ive been thinking a little bit lately about how I want to attach my pedestal seat bases to the boat... I have the plywood risers made that everyone seems to do, but I was trying to figure out how to attach the base to the risers... My plan all along until recently was to use T-nuts, but then I...

Started tearing into the risers and manifolds with minimal hopes. . got the elbows off the risers and was not too excited... risers look pretty shot... manifolds actually are looking okish... now the question is, just get new risers or go nuts and convert to dryjoints...

    Opinions on manifolds and risers

I think I already know the answer but what are the experts thoughts on the condition of these? The risers are pretty rough at the elbows but the manifolds actually don't look horrible to me but I assume they are the same age.
