    Custom Fiberglass Extended Swim Platform

Ted, I would flip this one so you always have CSM as a binding layer between cloth layers... Unless you're using epoxy, you need CSM between cloth/roving layers.

96 Bayliner 2050 - The Dirty Rotten Baystard

Got the new/old sewing machine motor totally torn down, cleaned, lubed, rewired, reassembled, and back on the machine and it fired right up! the Old singerlite even works now! lol Can't wait to try it out. Wanted to last night but I tried to wind a bobbin and found out there is a tire missing...

Capri 1750 Complete Restore :) & 9 Months to do it too!

Not as much time spent as tpenfield but heres my take... Take it easy, i only spent like 20 minutes on it lol. The only way to really make something like this tho would be to shape it in foam and build a plug and mold. It COULD be done with skinning and shaping and fairing, but probably would...

96 Bayliner 2050 - The Dirty Rotten Baystard

Picked up a new "old" toy the other night! its a 201 series from 1952. I know its not an ideal machine for marine vinyl but I didn't pay much at all for it and I won't feel bad if it craps out vs breaking my wifes new fangled machine that does all kinds of fancy stitches. I DID have to dig in...

    Busted motor mount bolts

I would get a 3/4" hole saw like this one... take out the center drill and drill around the lag and then take a hammer and bang on the side of the broken lag until the wood and everything breaks loose and pull them out... Then epoxy in new dowels that match the drilled hole size... drill new...

    Automotive ujoints

I have to agree that these are not OEM u-joints. The ones I removed from my drive looked exactly like this... They had an M symbol and "SPORE" ??? and L15N. It looks like KOYO is cast on the ones u bought. They look like a decent bearing manufacturer, but you didn't get OEM parts.

96 Bayliner 2050 - The Dirty Rotten Baystard

Little "post-holiday" update everyone. Started working on replacing the impeller on my outdrive. Got started late the other night (while video-ing which adds a bunch of time) and got it to a point where everything is removed. Need to get the new one installed yet, but I want to clean everything...

    Changing U-joints

Howdy... I don't know if anyone will find this useful, but I noticed there were no good videos on youtube on how to change mercruiser u-joints. They aren't super complicated to change, but there are definitely a few tricks to the job. So, I decided to make a video of how to change them and...

    Fiberglass Dust for Peanut Butter

Dont do it. Fiberglass dust is basically small roundish particles of glass that are abraded off when grinding, they have a somewhat uniform symmetry. The reason cabosil or fumed silica works, is because the actual fumed silica particle is a very complex chainlike 3D geometry and they all sort of...

Ball Valves on engine to make raw water draining easier

now what would be REALLY slick.... is put a solenoid valve in the bilge with all drain ports running to a manifold that drains thru the valve. Have a button back there, hit the button, and drain the entire engine... downside is, you cant poke and prod the holes in case they are clogged, but I...

Merc trim solenoid - potential hack for longer life?

It works! I took one of my old "refurbished" solenoids and cut a cross section into it so I could see what goes on when it opens and closes. No shortage of sparks when no protection! And then I decided to hook my oscilloscope and capture the voltage spikes with and without the flyback diode...

Merc trim solenoid - potential hack for longer life?

Thoughts welcome.... I took apart my old trim solenoids because I tested them and was getting very high resistance across the main terminals. I ordered new ones so I figured I'd investigate what the inside looked like... they are surprisingly repairable... in fact, I posted a video on my...

    Glen-L WB Power Skiff Build

You probably already know this... but just to reiterate, quarter sawn oak would be most desireable from a stability standpoint, and I've been lucky and found quarter sawn stock at home centers, especially in less wide boards. You can identify it easily without looking thru a whole stack too by...

    Mercarb Rebuild Instructions - Video

Hey Mods and Mercruiser aficionados... As part of my bayliner restoration video series I'm making over on youtube, I made the 1st of 2 videos covering the teardown and rebuild of a 2 barrel Mercarb. I just realized, I don't think there is anything over in the ADULTS ONLY section on carb...
