Camshaft Replacement on Vortec 4.3L 262

They do not currently carry any marine cams for the 4.3 V6. If you just selected a displacement of 4.3L it includes the 262 and 265 cubic inch V8s. The 265 was the originial small block from 1955. The 262 came in some Monzas but they are V8s not V6s.

Camshaft Replacement on Vortec 4.3L 262

FWIW the Melling 22119 cam is spec for a non-balance shaft (pre 1992) 4.3 The Melling marine cam for balance shaft equipped 4.3 is #22222 I have no idea what the difference is https://www.melling.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/ag-marine-catalog.pdf page 38 This is, of course, assuming that the...

Camshaft Replacement on Vortec 4.3L 262

You might lose a few horsepower but it's typically not noticeable especially since you only have a 2 barrel carb

Camshaft Replacement on Vortec 4.3L 262

Melling MC1315 from Rockauto is a decent stock replacement and cheap. Without knowing what valve lift your heads are capable of, can't make any further suggestions

VP 5.0GL-C Head Gasket FelPro Part Number

The head gasket is the same for vortec vs non vortec. The intake manifold gasket is different. What year is your engine? Better yet, do you have 8 or 12 bolts mounting the intake manifold?

Blew the coolant hose from thermostat housing to water circulator / starboard riser hotter than port side- Do I need a new riser or circulating pump?

If you pull the thermostat and run it and there is no pressure then the problem is in the thermostat housing. there is always flow to the manifolds when the thermostat is closed. If there is a restriction it can cause pressure.

OMC 5.0 wont stay primed after new seperator. PLEASE HELP

Have your checked the antisiphon valve. It could be blocked, not allowing sufficient fuel flow and also allowing fuel to drain back into the tank

Blew the coolant hose from thermostat housing to water circulator / starboard riser hotter than port side- Do I need a new riser or circulating pump?

Is the hose pressurizing at all times or only at higher rpms. Does it do it when the engine is cold and hot or just when cold?

    4.3lx intake manifold question

achris is referring to cam timing not ignition timing. Cam timing changes valve event timing which can affect the way the cylinders fill at different rpms. Generally advancing cam timing improves low end torque and retarding it increases top end power Edit didn't see previous response

    4.3lx intake manifold question

Its definitely not marine. Probably from an 85 or 86 gm truck which are just about the only carbureted 4.3 applications.

    Air Fuel Ratio Carb Tuning

Sounds like an interesting experiment. Waiting to hear how it works. Does the AFR gauge need a certain temperature to operate like standard O2 sensors? Will water cooled exhaust cause a problem?

Blew the coolant hose from thermostat housing to water circulator / starboard riser hotter than port side- Do I need a new riser or circulating pump?

If you remove hoses from the manifolds or pull riser plugs and run the engine, does the circulation pump hose still pressurize?

4.3 V6 leaks wet oil sump

Like Dubs said, clean it all off starting with valve covers. Valve cover leak will drip down side of engine and coat everything and hard to see with manifolds covering it all up.

Just saw this and thought the same thing based on your first post. You should have a ID tag on the drive that will match up to Volvo part numbers

Why is it still getting hot

Remove the engine drain plugs on the port and starboard sides. See if a bunch of rust flakes or chunks come out or if they are clogged. Buildup of rust and crud in the engine block reduces cooling efficiency. Flush the engine block with fresh water by removing the thermostat housing.
