Pooched fuel pump.... need replacement options

https://www.amazon.com/Airtex-E8251-Universal-Electric-Applications/dp/B0027I88VQ This should work nicely for your application. I would install an oil pressure switch that closes when oil pressure comes up. Edit: I see you are already on board with the oil pressure switch

    Water in 4 cylinders

That's good news so far but did you do a compression test? Sometimes it will run ok without a load...for a while. Probably need to check the oil for any water or metal contamination. At least put a new filter on and cut the old one open and inspect for metal bits. A bent rod due to hydrolock can...

    1993 omc cobra 4.3L

Need more info. Carbureted or EFI? EFI should turn on with key to pressurize the lines. Carbureted usually is connected to oil pressure switch likely on port side just above oil filter or rear of block on top with oil pressure sender. The switch closes when oil pressure is high enough. Check for...

Did you find evidence of cam gear coating being damaged? If so, you've answered your own question

Mercruiser 7.4 Dipstick Tube Broke, Can't Remove Oil Pan

Does this engine not have the stamped metal bars around the oil pan to spread the clamping pressure from the oil pan bolts? If not, I'd get some. They prevent the distortion of the pan and help seal better.

Boat alarm staying on after cranking motor

Unplugging them won't help. Sounds like lower unit oil sensor is damaged

    1000 rpm at idle

check for loose/disconnected plugs or vacuum hoses. dry/cracked hose/pcv valve could cause vacuum leak letting air in causing idle to go up. make sure nothing obstructing throttle plates from closing. is it throttle body or mfi? IAC valve can stick or go bad making weird idle issues. also...

check your throttle cable and linkage on the engine, throttle linkage on engine sounds stuck, may have broken throttle cable trying to throttle down

Help with Caravelle 209 Volvo 5.0 PFES

If it was the inlet side of the pump it could be the problem but if it was the output, it would be leaking. Check the fuel pressure. I believe it should be 30psi

    Top speed?

Top speed is a function of engine rpm, gear ratio, prop pitch, and prop slip. To determine theoretical max speed enter your actual WOT rpm, drive gear ratio, and prop pitch into any online prop speed calculator. Set prop slip to zero. Set prop slip to 10 or 15 to estimate real world top speed...

    Volvo 4.3 gl overheating

Also could be a blockage in water inlet hose. If it only overheated at high throttle it may just not be getting enough water. Take inlet hose off seawater pump and backflush to outdrive and check for leaks and make sure it flows freely

    Volvo 4.3 gl overheating

Is there an oil or ps fluid heat exchanger in the freshwater inlet hose? If you didn't drain this or fill with antifreeze it could have cracked and the impeller is sucking air

    Water in 4 cylinders

Doesn't matter if you run it or not first. Compression test will tell you. Exactly. Possibly an ignition problem causing the engine to stall. Might get lucky

Strange Restrictor in Cooling Bypass Hose

I'm not an expert on this setup but perhaps someone added the restrictor to force more water through the exhaust manifolds to keep them cooler. Older designs and mentality was to have lots of flow through exhaust manifolds to keep them cool and prevent damage to rubber parts and keep engine bay...

Fuel fouling (rich/spark) or oil leak?

you can swap positions of plugs in 1 and 4 with cylinders 2 and 3 and see if fouling stays with cylinder or follows plugs. if it follows the plugs, get new plugs. done.

Fuel fouling (rich/spark) or oil leak?

1 single barrel 4 cyl should feed all cylinders the same, but front and back have longer runners so might fill a little better at low speed 2 use sandpaper to clean all terminals on cap and rotor (dremel can work) and make sure all wiring connections on coil and distributor are clean and tight...

volvo penta 5.0 Ford engine knocking.

I'm with Scott. A rod knock doesn't go away. Does it sound like it's in the front or back of the engine. Back could mean u-joint or coupler or other things. Front could be balancer or timing chain. Sometimes bad lifters make noise at different temps and rpm and oil pressure.

1999 Volvo Penta 5.7 GSI Throttle Issue

Sounds like you need to check throttle and shifter cable settings. There are guides out there, but basically adjust throttle cable as dubs has said and verify that when the shifter is in neutral, the shift cable is adjusted on the outrdrive so that the shift linkage is centered between forward...

    4.3 Volvo penta carburetor

If you had an intake leak it would cause it to run lean, not rich like you describe. Did you verify the float was set to the correct height, and that the needle valve was not leaking? The mixture screws are fuel screws not air screws. Opening them allows more fuel causing it to run richer. Your...
