how hard would it be to ?

Yep. My 21' Chris is good for storage only, that's about it. Keeps things dry. I have a porta-potty up there but you have to open the hatch to stick your head out if you're sitting on it. :)

Whats your system for dockside mooring covers

Yep, have it made from sunbrella or comparable. Had this made about 10 years ago, re-seamed two years ago. Needs replacement now but it sat year round in snow and rain for 6 years. Had I properly taken care of it, it would go another 10 years no problem My next one will include a zipper access...

    3.7 Power Steering unit

So any of these seal kits on ebay will be fine? Dont want to go through all the trouble and install a pos kit.. Does the PRV go bad? Im sure you say use the original because its somehow different than the automotive one.

    3.7 Power Steering unit

Yes, I replaced one that was getting sketchy. All the mess seemt to be forward and on top of the motor. Thats why I was wondering if it could possibly be a failed cap. Looks like it maybe vents under pressure... not quite sure how it works, has a spring on it.

    3.7 Power Steering unit

I removed it and inspected the body, thought maybe the tank was split near the hose barb but didnt see any issues

    3.7 Power Steering unit

Has anyone taken one of these apart and replaced seals? I checked engine compartment after last run and noticed the fluid all over the motor. Couldnt pinpoint where it came from. I replaced a hose to the cooler that had a split but dont think thats where it came from. I am assuming the shaft...

    Pre-mix ratio question

Yep, sounds like a guessing game but why guess ;). I raced dirt bikes back in the 80s and we would run those bikes so lean it was rediculous. They were super crisp and had tons of power and response (right up until they didnt LOL)

    Pre-mix ratio question

Bondo, he seems to want to eliminate the oil injection. So, worse case would be too lean and could present issues. PO just added a bit of oil to the tank to keep it a bit rich. Either burn it off with the oil injection and start fresh or drain it and use in your lawnmower,. Start with a fresh...

    Deleting the voltage regulator 470

Too funny! He will definately have plenty to do! I removed mine because I hate leaving old junk thats been bypassed or disconnected. LOL I must have removed 2 miles of old wiring from my boat when I aquired it back in 08. Some were live, some went nowhere. I see the same crap all the time at...

    Deleting the voltage regulator 470

Just replace the entire hose from transom to hx. No clamps, no fittings, no restrictions, no scabbing in something thats not necessary. Eliminate all those future problems

    Time to chuck the 470

Yep. Paying for fuel for the boat is stupid expensive. But in the scheme of things, it's really the least of your worries lol

    Fuel treatment question.....

Nor do I. I treat the fuel, whatever is left in the tank stays in the tank, fog it till it dies or almost dies, and thats it. In the spring, I change all the filters and separator, pre-fill them and fire it up, and have never had an issue. Have been doing it like this since 1998 Its laid up from...

    Time to chuck the 470

Yes, but for affordablity the 4.3 all the way. They are plentiful and he can use his existing outdrive which is huge. Most of us wouldnt be on these forums if money wasnt an object! ;)

    Time to chuck the 470

Makes sense, still a little weak but very reliable, budget friendly and servicable. Still, if I was to do it differently, I would go with the 4.3 if the transom and outdrive were all good. If they needed replacement, probably a 5.7. Why not at that point anything goes.

    Time to chuck the 470

Yes, yes, and yes. The final decision maker for me was the fact that I dont have a garage or barn big enough to house the boat. If I did I would have spent the winter dropping in a V-motor. Tackling that large and lengthy of a project in my driveway was out of the question.
