    Transom ground (zinc? anode).. should it be wired to something?

    there is a ground near my drain hole in my transom. what is it for? i remember hearing that it has something to do with the gas tank and spark prevention. my tank is all plastic, so maybe grounding's unnecessary. that said, do i need to ground it to anything else? thanks

    72 Evinrude 50hp moist air blowing from pee hole with lower unit submerged.
