    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Following . . . The more forward sections of the boat looked OK. Usually the mushy stuff starts from the stern.

    Engine install checklist

IIRC, the bullet connectors for the trim senders are matched male/female such that they cannot be mistaken (if/when it matters). . . but you will want to make sure you have the sender vs. the limit switch wiring sorted out and tied (somehow) to an area of the transom that will be within reach...

    Boat budget question

The Admiral usually sets aside about $500-1,000 for 'boat bucks' each year. I routinely spend $4,000-5,000 per year on the boat. It's been that way for 12+ years . . . It never seems to make it to the budget though . . . . My bare-bones annual maintenance and fees runs about $1,800...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

The Admiral and I will be house-hunting in the next year or so . . . Having adequate space for cars, and all the toys will be top of my list. Not sure I'll be able to find something with a barn, never mind 13 ft high doors . . . but we shall see. In other news, the 'defective' battery is now...

Vinyl Plank Flooring Installation Decision ???

If the flooring wasn't enough 'fun', I am also installing backsplash tile. This is where the new oven will go. . . Prior to the tile was the range hood, which needed duct work to the outside. That slowed me down for a day or 2. I am at a point where I am assigning boat preparation duties to...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

It's raining so the solar charging is a bust for the rest of the day. I hooked up the AC power and ran the inverter charging. It went into bulk mode for a few minutes (20 amps), then went into absorption mode . . . was pulling 1-2 amps. I'll see how things look in the AM.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Quick update . . . Yesterday, I let the new battery come down to a resting voltage, which it did after a while. 13.24 volts. Checking it again in the AM it was 13.22 volts. So, about 70% charge per the voltage chart. I decided to give it a few more % of charge and hooked the charger up for...

N Y requires everyone to pass a powerboat operators license

MA is getting in the game as well. "Massachusetts requires a Boater Safety Certificate for anyone born after January 1, 1989, who wants to operate a motorboat or personal watercraft. This is also known as a boating license. The deadline to obtain the certificate is April 1, 2026 for those born...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

I'd like to put my boat under cover for the winter, but it stands a little over 12 ft high on the trailer. Maybe something to think about in the future. . I checked on the batteries after charging for about 2.5 hours (@ 20 amps) (13.48 volts). I'll have to see what the 'at rest' voltage...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

My concern is that while the batteries are installed in the boat, it is supplying power (and small amounts of current) to the various systems throughout the boat. Mostly the inverter, but there is other stuff like CO detector and stereo keep-alive. So, even though there is some loss within the...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

I’m not sure if all LFP batteries are the same, but . . . The cold protection in my batteries stops charging @ 32F, but the discharging keeps going until about 4F. So, with my boat, which has a lot of parasitic loads, the batteries run down.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Quick update . . . The defective battery is on its way back to LiTime and a new (presumably 3rd) battery should arrive later this week. The solar charging system that I made/installed last year is doing its thing.

Should I buy a boat without a survey?

What is wrong with this picture? $40K for a 20+ year old sailboat with a salvage title. Seems a little bit steep (OK, a lot steep) I suppose you are going to play a guessing game with us . . . So, my guess is that it is a Dragonfly. Would you care to tell us the length?

    LiFePO Batteries ???

@cyclops222 . . . I have SLA batteries for the engines. The other loads are run on the LiFePO4 batteries. The main wiring feeds are 00 gauge.

What kind of damage from an I/O in salt water for 2-3 years?

As stated . . . (Bayliner) + (1991) + (I/O 2-3 years in salt water) = the concerns You would not only want to verify the condition of the outdrive, but also the condition of the boat's structure. You mentioned that you did not want to get into a structural restoration project, just purely...

Vinyl Plank Flooring Installation Decision ???

    LiFePO Batteries ???

I ordered another battery . . . Same as the others. Not sure how long the replacement will take and I did not want to start off the season with just 1 100 Ah battery for the 'house' loads. When I get the replacement, I'll work it in as a third battery, so I'll have 300 Ah of capacity on the...
