    8.7 Volts at the Coil

Ouch . . . sorry to hear about the issue. The first thing that comes to mind is the drop in voltage with the key switched on. I'd be looking for something shorting out the electrical system. Maybe get the wiring diagram for the engine, if you don't already have one and start chasing the...

2007 larson cabrio 240 NEED PARTS!

Welcome to iBoats. . . Parts for boats is quite different than the automobile market. Seats are usually re-upholstered or even re-fabricated by local upholstery shops. Most of the component parts are generic and can be sourced through online marine supply merchants (like iBoats). There may...

2008 Chaparral 275 SSI 8.1 Volvo Penta GXI-J Soft Alarm Issues

Also, on my current boat (new-2-me last year), I got tired of hearing those silly alarms and applied duct tape over the buzzers . . . There were 3 of them, each having their own purpose, it seemed. It was not until I connected the Diacom and could see the data . . . The computer said that the...

Yes, it does . . . BTW - I am on a couple Cruisers Yacht FB groups . . . There was recently some pictures of your boat (IIRC). . .

2008 Chaparral 275 SSI 8.1 Volvo Penta GXI-J Soft Alarm Issues

Welcome to iBoats and sorry to hear about the engine alarms. The Rinda Diacom software will record the ECM data while you drive the boat. I usually do that when I get an issue, rather than replacing parts. Reviewing the data, and particularly over 3,000 RPM in your case, you should be able to...

    My boat is being a boat . . .

I guess it would make sense if during each outing the engine discharged about a half quart of coolant and did not retrieve it back. We shall see.

    My boat is being a boat . . .

Yup, I might order a couple new caps. I'm hoping to get some of the batteries out of the way with the LiFePO upgrade.

    My boat is being a boat . . .

Update . . . I spent some time out on the boat (at the mooring) today to take a further look at the cooling system. The starboard engine's reservoir was quite full, so not much, if any coolant got sucked back into the HE as the engine cooled down from last week's outing. . . So, I drained it...

Showing the Boston Whaler 13 some TLC . . .

When I was growing up, all the cool kids in the harbor had Whaler 13's w/ 40 HP. Talk about Greased lightning. o_O

Showing the Boston Whaler 13 some TLC . . .

Yup, the original 'unsinkable' foam filled design. This boat is a 1971 model, I believe. Probably has some saturated foam. Motor is appears to be 1980's, based on the model # (1983 ?). Overheat was mild and short lived. Probably should order the impeller. .

Showing the Boston Whaler 13 some TLC . . .

Greetings, I have been procrastinating on keeping up with the Boston Whaler. It does not get used much and last season it overheated. I ran some de-scaler solution through the motor to see if that helped with the cooling system, and seems to have improved things. Keeping up with my...

    A/C filter removal

You could probably just loosen the hose clamps on both sides of the strainer. Take the whole strainer out and back flush it to remove any debris. Re-assemble.

    Solenoid location

Maybe zoom out a bit with the camera . . . But the slave solenoids were placed in the electrical box on the engine in some of the MPI engines.

    Mercury merc 110 9.8hp motor

Yup, I frequently search CL and FB for those motors . . . Any original decals are all faded and look more silver than the original colors.

    Mercury merc 110 9.8hp motor

Nate said in the initial post that the S/N is gone. Maybe the motor has a dark past

    Mercury merc 110 9.8hp motor

Gummed up carburetor or the idle screw at the top of the carb just above the air intake might need a tweak. (Assuming it is the Tillotson carb)

    Slow trim response

One thing to check is if you raise the outdrive about half way . . . maybe a bit more. See if it will stay there for several days. If it slowly lowers, you may have a problem with the valves in the pump.
