    F-150 Transmission Issues (I think? . . . No, I thought )

In some quick reading last night about the lockup clutch, there should be a 'signal' valve (solenoid?) and a relay valve that activate the clutch lock-up. I am wondering it the valve(s) are 'oscillating' during times of higher pressure (i.e. acceletating) giving the noise and pulsing sensation...

    F-150 Transmission Issues (I think? . . . No, I thought )

Thanks for the replies so far. I will check out the lockup clutch as I was not aware the TC had one. Just wondering if the clutch is disengaging and re-engaging rapidly during acceleration, causing the noise and RPM fluctuation. Not sure how harmful it may be. . . or not.

    F-150 Transmission Issues (I think? . . . No, I thought )

Yes, I just want to be sure I'm pointing the cash cannon in the right direction. If a new torque converter will fix the issue, then I'll go that route for now. I'm finishing the 'last' upholstery job for the season. I won't be actively soliciting business until the fall '23.

    F-150 Transmission Issues (I think? . . . No, I thought )

Greetings, I have posted this topic in an F-150 forum and received some input, but not a whole lot. Since many of us are truck/towing aficionados, I thought to post it here. My truck . . . 2012 Ford F-150 3.5 EcoBoost 4WD w/ 6R80 transmission, 206K miles. I bought it in Nov 2021 for towing...

OK to Delay Recommissioning One Year?

Take care of yourself first. The boat should be fine.

Upgrade from small swim platform to large?

Looks do-able. Your skill will be a primary factor in the success. Focus on the 'flatness' or 'contour' of the transom of your boat vs. the donor boat. You'll need the struts that are underneath and will likely find out if your boat has a wet/rotting transom. The aftermarket transoms are in...

    Four Winns Color Codes

Spectrumcolor.com may be the best resource for finding a color match. If I put the parameters in (Four Winns, Grey, 1990) it comes up with 2 colors Charcoal Light Grey You'd have to see if they match though. Another thing to consider is the age of the boat and related fading of the color...

I don't know anything about boat but I want one

I have spent about the same amount on maintenance and operation each year over the past 15+ years . . . $3-5K, depending on my desired improvements or repair needs. This spans the 3 powerboats that I have owned. On some of the boats it was 10-15% of the purchase price/value . . . on the...

I don't know anything about boat but I want one

Freedom Boat Club are all over the place. So, it would probably be a good choice if you go the boat club route. Probably a good thing to do for a year or 2, but you'll have to figure any up-front money to join into your overall boat budget.

I don't know anything about boat but I want one

Welcome to iBoats . . . There are a variety of video resources online, but I don't think you'll find everything in one place. So, look around. +1 on the boater safety course. Do an in-person/live class as it should be more interactive and you can learn from the instructor or other 'boaters'...

Maybe my turn for new boat time

I might have missed something . . . Are there some fix-its needed? Sounds like you may be going through the 'teething pains' of a new boat?

Maybe my turn for new boat time

I'd be real careful about touching/changing anything while the boat is new, as there would be warranty implications, even though what you touch may be unrelated to any warranty claim. Lots of exclusions and cause for voiding listed in the warranty section of the OSX owner's manual.

Maybe my turn for new boat time

Looks like the owner's manual (online download) is not much use. Probably your next step is the dealer or if they have a tech support group, similar to Formula's TAG. Also there is a Chappy owner's forum that was/is fairly active.

Maybe my turn for new boat time

My bad . . . forgot about the twin engines. I am wondering if there are several isolators. Is it one battery per engine, plus one house battery? Chappy provides decent manuals and documentation with their boats (right?) What sort of info did you get on the electrical system? I'm...

Maybe my turn for new boat time

Nice! (y) I would think the isolator is so that the battery can charge both battery banks.

New member 1960 Shell Lake repair

Welcome to iBoats . . . It looks like you signed up last year, but have not posted until now. If you have not already done so, check out the fiberglassics web site. Looks like you have some work ahead of you. Did you get any proof of ownership paperwork with the boat/trailer? Always seems...

Question about installing new clutch/gear set in 1999 Bravo 3

there is always a next time . . . especially with boats. I'll be taking apart my B3's this spring for a looksy at the clutches.

    Anchor Rope

My Coast Guard instructor told the class as soon as a rope is given a purpose it becomes a 'line', except if the purpose is for an anchor, it becomes a 'rode'

Once you attach 'rope' to an anchor it becomes a 'rode'.

    Boat vs trailer size

Since the difference is only 1 foot . . . It would be best to get some measurements of the trailer (example: bow stop to end of bunks or rollers) vs. those same measurements of the boat, and the weight specifications of trailer vs. boat to see if the trailer would work.
