Tow Smart "Submersible" LED tail lights are junk... better solution?

You have 12-18 LED running at less than 3 volts each, being feed a 12 volt supply. You need to mount the individual LED and you need to reduce the voltage to each one. A simple pcb solves both problems

Fridge shuts off when not on shore power

Can’t tell w/o digging in to the schematic, but I’m guessing the unit runs on AC. Using a switching power supply to convert DC to AC. If that is the case, something took out the inverter side of the supply

Why am I replacing woodruff key???????

Guessing The key is intentionally softer than the shaft to absorb the impact should anything bind up the impeller. Typically a low carbon steel. The drive shaft is typically a 4xx series stainless. The impeller typically has a bronze hub so you have a dissimilar metals situation. With the...

    Humminbird Low Battery Alarm Setting?

Technically, 12 volts is a dead battery. You might want to set it a bit higher ;) Yes, with caviots. 1. Depends on where in the circuit the voltage is monitored (input or output of power supply) 2. May or may not be an accurate depending on how much of a voltage drop do you have between the...

Why I'm nervous boating at night...

Pots are expense. Nobody sets a string in a heavily traveled location, let alone a marked channel. Stay in marked channels and it's not a problem Having said that, buoys are no match for a SS prop at planing speed. They do however make a heck of a racket as they bounce off the transom...lol

Why I'm nervous boating at night...

Do you drive at night? The probability of an accident on the way to a grocery store is far greater than running a boat at night in the ocean. You would be surprised at the number of “boaters” with a water phobia. Really kicks in when the beach drops over the horizon.

    Lenco joystick/dual prop electric

Unless you put 110 or 220 volts AC into the motor, I would not expect to see any damage at all. You need to start eliminating things from contention. Pull the connector on the actuator. Put a meter on it while trying to operate the motor to see if you have voltage. No voltage move up to...

12V battery system - adding ACR

If you get the full Blue Seas kit, it comes with a Off/ON/Combine Turn switch to On when using the boat. Turn it Off when leaving the boat. It’s that easy. Should the starting battery get weak or fail, you switch to Combine which parallels the batteries to provide power to start the boat...

Fuel vapor separator leaking Suzuki 115HP

Varies from pump to pump. The OE service manual would detail the procedure. Things like hoses, filters, wiring, etc. age with time, not use Having only 38 hours on a 10 years old motor tells me the motor sat unused for long periods of time. Not a good thing when it comes to fuel system...

    Depth Finders?

And herein lies the problem…,,the transducer is mounted the the transom. The bow can be in a rock pile before the depth reach’s alarm stage at the transom. With my offset is set at 14”, my depth alarm is set at 36” as a “no go” condition. Only run at idle anywhere it’s charted less than 6’...

    Depth Finders?

Striker Plus 4 is a fish finder. It does not have chart plotter functionality, per say. Will need to jump up to the EchoMap series for full featured mapping When comparison shopping, be careful what maps are included. They varying from full featured marine maps to just basic contour maps.

    Variance in water pressure

The water pump is a fixed displacement pump. Output flow and pressure vary with RPM. To keep pressure and flow stable, they use a pressure/flow relief valve called a poppit valve. The Poppit is in effect a spring loaded vent, that dumps excess pressure/water to the exhaust housing to maintain...
