2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

There is an isolator of some sort between the batteries and the battery banks. On the 328's it was an ACR . . . it looks like on the 338's it is an isolator. At least that's how it is on the Port engine, charging the inverter bank. My next steps (which will not start until Thursday (back...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Not ready to throw in that towel. Not sure what you would/could simplify without taking all the 21st century features out of the boat. I did enjoy the basics of the 1990's Formula vs. today's boats. I'll go forward and figure it out.

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

That's a good question . . . Thanks for mentioning it. (y) I'll have to take a look at what little info Cruisers Yachts has about the electrical system and the isolators they use. My solar panel stuff connects to the battery banks directly, but then since the alternators charge more than 1...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Just wondering where there would be a diode voltage drop between the batteries and the engines/PCMs ?

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Although I disabled a bunch of stuff, I am still getting the voltage warning on the starboard engine as soon as I turn the key to the on position (I usually wait until the VesselView finishes its gyrations before cranking the engines.) The VesselView says that both engine batteries are resting...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

I was able to turn off a bunch of alarms, but no limit setting regarding voltage. I read some where that the PCM is spec’d for 9-16 volts. The inverter battery bank is sitting at 13.4 volts vs. 13.1 from yesterday. The port engine is a happy camper, but the starboard engine is a cranky pants...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

In reading up on the VesselView, it looks like there are some settings for warning thresholds, alarm silencing, etc. So, I’ll take a look at those first in case some are out of whack. Then onto other things as needed.

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Yes, but the message was there before the solar hook-up . . . getting worse though. I could easily disconnect the solar to see if it makes a difference. Also, I should not that while underway the voltages for both engines are between 13.5 and 14.0 volts, per the vessel view. At rest voltage...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Thanks @achris I think I need to get the right connector for these motors. Anyway, on the way back to home port there was less beeping and alarms. I am still getting the low voltage on the starboard engine, but not sure why. It used to be a warning and now it is 'critical' (yea, whatever. ...

    Solar Power Installation . . .

Yes, the panel seems pretty resilient to voltage loss due to partial shade. Today I got the stereo going and the hand held vacuum charging on the inverter. Getting 13.5 volts at 4.5 amps so about the 60 watt range. If this does not seem like enough, there is a 175 watt panel which would be...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Greetings- Today we took the boat to our favorite anchoring area- about 7 miles journey going 3500 RPM and 27 ish mph. The whole way over there would be a long (3-4 second) beep about every 2 minutes. The engines seemed and ran normally and nothing showed up on the vesselview4 display. All...

    Quit My Job . . .

I've been 'out' for a week . . . spent every day this week on the boat working the backlog of projects and fix-its. I actually set some time aside yesterday to take a few phone calls and email exchanges with former colleagues and work related associates. I do like the fact that 'if I don't...

    Solar Power Installation . . .

One thing I am noticing is that the actual power (volts x amps) is about 60-65% of the panel rating. It might be the angle of the sun, but something to consider when choosing a panel (for anyone considering a similar application). Of course, you will not get 100%, due to efficiencies in the...

    In dash GPS speedo?

Yes, when making the 'speed runs' to verify WOT speed, it is advisable to make a pass in both directions to be able to net out any current.

fresh water tank issue stingray 250CR

Welcome to iBoats . . . Usually the water tank is not too far from the water fill fitting. So, wherever the fitting is, take a look inside the boat in that same area. Also the pressure pump is usually located near the tank, so the sound of the pump can help find the tank.

Is the Mercruiser 7.4 Gen V an interference motor?

It might depend of the application (performance, truck, industrial, marine) and if a high lift cam is used. Marine applications will tend to use lower lift to get greater valve timing separation. I thought that all of the 454/7.4 generaqtions had the indented pistons, but not necessarily for...

Color me noob- Finding common leaks

Ouch . . . and Welcome to iBoats. . . :D Since you had freeze damage to the exhaust manifold and H.E. there are probably other parts of the raw water side that experienced some damage. The inspection camera will help because many areas are not easily viewed. Also, get yourself the parts...

    In dash GPS speedo?

All the cool kids have GPS speedometers. So, I think you will be well served by upgrading. I don't even bother to hook up the water pressure speedo . . . only to have it last about 2 outings before it gets clogged. The VessesView (SmartCraft) system on my new-2-me boat has a GPS...

    Solar Power Installation . . .

Here is a view of the 100 watt solar panel mounted to the soft top . . . after I cleaned it up. As you can see some bird have better aim than others . . . :ROFLMAO: I also received the power diodes today and hooked up the 4th battery bank. The charging was down to about 2.0 amps today. So...
