    Tie off anchor?

There is or should be a tie-off pin or clip to prevent the anchor from free falling. Lots of folks don't use it, but probably should. On a horizontal windlass, it is possible that the chain can bounce up out of the gypsy while underway. Sorry to hear about your mishap.

    Solar Power Installation . . .

The arch (and associated soft top) is big . . . maybe 9 ft wide and 4 ft deep. It should be enough space.

    Solar Power Installation . . .

I have mentioned wanting to install solar charging to keep the (7) batteries fresh while the (CY 338) boat sits on its mooring. Today I hooked everything up (using the Whaler as a work surface) for some testing, although it was a cloudy day. The system seems to work OK, considering the lack of...

Removing Seat Boxes on a 1991 Bayliner Capri

Welcome to iBoats . . . Post some pictures of your boat when you can for more specific input. Not sure how much strength/rigidity was coming from the seat boxes, but there are certainly alternatives that will work, particularly if you are changing up the type of seating.

    2008 Chaparral Signature 310 Trailering

I have trailering dimensions for my Cruisers 338 and the keel to the arch is 10' 5" . . . sitting on the trailer the top of the arch was 12' 0". So, on the trailer the keel is about 1' 7" off the ground. I would expect the boat (Chap 310) to be under 13' sitting on an appropriately fitted...

    Stringer replacement

4 inches of old tabbing is a bit much. Maybe 2 inches or less. The new tabbing needs to be laid over a ground surface as the others have indicated. So decide how much of the old tabbing wall you want to deal with.

Converting old bow light to LED?

You don't want to just put an LED bulb of the proper type in it and call it good?

    1968 Glastron Transom question

Welcome to iBoats . . . It is a bit hard to tell which just a single picture. Any cracks or other obvious issues on the outside of the transom? The boat will probably need a restoration at some point, but it is a judgement call (your call) as to its fitness for use. Keep the Band-Aids for...

    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

I'll get the resting voltage from the SmartCraft (and perhaps my multi-meter) to compare vs. the analog gauge at the electrical panel. When I had the boat on shore power (i.e. while on the trailer), the batteries would be a bit higher than resting voltage (which is supposed to be about 12.6...

    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

It does seem high for a resting voltage. Analog gauge so maybe not the best indicator

Trim pump leaking out from resavoir when pumping normal?

Reservoir . . . Nothing normal about a leak. Is the pump over filled? Put some paper towel below the line fittings to make sure it is not the fittings themselves - BTDT.

    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

Here is the battery display while the engines are running. . . When I turn on the ignition (before cranking the engine), the batteries are at 13.5 volts per the display at the electrical panel. The low voltage warning comes up. I might need my Diacom software to figure out what is going on...

    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

I hit a wave a bit on the hard side . . . not terrible, but a decent 'bang'. A piece of the cabin ceiling came crashing down. It was just held in with a spring latch. Looks like I'll be getting some screws and finish washers to really hold the ceiling panel(s) up.

    Quit My Job . . .

4 more days . . . I had my 'exit interview' last week. Also 2 other people from my team are leaving for various reasons, so there is a bit of a scramble to fill the gaps. ( not my problem 🤪 ) In terms of my project (honey-do) list. First up will be painting the house, then doing some yard...

    MerCruiser 5.7L Low-ish Compression

It would be good to know the % leakage on the 2 'bad' cylinders, which would require a cylinder leak testing gauge. You could try a combustion chamber cleaning with Mercury PowerTune to see if it cleans up the valve seats at all. See if you can get an inspection camera (borescope) in the...

    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

In other news, the Smartcraft is indicating that the boat gets about 1.25 mpg at cruising speed (30 mph), which is what I was thinking, based on how much throttle is needed.

    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

I checked the voltage after the ignition is turned on . . . that's when the warning on the Smartcraft comes up. 13.5 volts, just like the other engine. So maybe I should check the battery connections, etc. I am not use if there is a voltage sensor of some sort, or if it is internal to the...

    2008 Chaparral Signature 310 Trailering

You might try the Chappy forum or Chaparral themselves for the trailer dimensions. Odds are that a trailer does not have to be exact and it will still fit OK. My boat is 10' 10" wide and sits at 12' (to the arch) on the trailer.
