    Attempting a motor rebuild

Re sleeve will get you back to the original size. It is a good idea when the cylinder has been oversized before and when over seizing does not make practical sense because the cylinder walls are badly scorched. At least here where I live there is not a great price difference between the two. I...

    Marine or Auto oil pan

When you change the oil pan, you have a beautiful opportunity to install a drain setup that will allow you to vacuum pump the oil out when you want to change it. It will save a lot of time and a potential mess in the bilge.

Pretty sure I found at least one of the leaks.

Pay attention when you screw the thing back in. It is a good idea to put that brass screen back on there. If the fitting you put in there is a flare fitting , it can go in dry. Otherwise use a teflon based pipe dope. There is a good chance that the seal around the fuel gauge is leaky. When you...

50HP fuel connector - where to buy?

I would bite the bullet and spend the $43. If one side has gone bad, the other side probably has some damage as well.

Question before I start tearing apart carburetors.

Don't drop the hammer when on the muffs. There is zero resistance and you can really damage the engine that way. As for fuel leak, find out where it comes from and fix it, before you do anything else. It's not like a car where where the fuel leaks onto the road. It leaks into the boat! As for a...

    Need help

It looks like a fiberglass bottom , so you might want to think about not drilling through but instead have the transducer flat on top of the fiberglass ( through hull instead of through the hull). another option would be a faring block.

    winter cover

Costco sells 2packs of 12x16 foot brown and silver very heavy duty tarps for like $18. These tarps have lasted me easily for 3 seasons. The two tarps easily cover my 22 foot Islander. If you build a wooden frame similar to what is used to wrap a boat or a tent like frame and set it on top you...

What size socket wrench fits my spark plugs?

The plug that is in there might not be the proper one for your engine. Yamaha is a very good company and a plug socket not fitting should be a red flag as to whether the plug was just shoved in there because it was what was available when last the plugs were changed. Check out your manual or...

What size socket wrench fits my spark plugs?

These outboards usually come with a small toolkit and there is a sparkplug socket in it. It usually is a 14 millimeter socket. If the socket itself is too fat, you should try a chainsaw socket. Those are often thinner. the plug you need is a Ngk DPR6EB-9 There are a few setups that need an 18...

    Covid!

I have had it like 5 times, but it never was more than a slight cough. I only found out every time because of my grand kids. I self tested with one of those home test kits. I did not want to pass it on to them.

    Nobody fishing?

Consider yourself lucky. At least you did not have to deal with laker slime on the floor of the boat. Around here on Lake Ontario, we call lake trout "slimers" and mostly do our best not to catch them. They usually are in the 5 to 20+ pound range and are a last resort for charter boat captains...
