Shift rod position after impeller change

I am not sure if you have that possibility, but is there a place where you can get your boat to and drag the rear end out so that the engine is either over very shallow water or just on land? I used to do this at our lake. The lower unit can be removed that way without expensive removal from...

Re-post of Boomyal's Brined Turkey Recipe!

There is one thing that all you briners and grillers and stewers , whether your bird is the best or the worst, do have in common. You are preparing for a shared meal with friends , family and others, dear to you. That is where the blessing lays. May all of you have a blessed season to share.

Shift rod position after impeller change

It sounds to me that the mechanic screwed up. Presuming that you paid him , he should fix the problem that he created. There should have been no grinding gears and these "adjustments" sound to me like he is blowing you off.

Re-post of Boomyal's Brined Turkey Recipe!

The name Boomyal and Aspeck on the same page takes me back to the wild west days of Dockside Chat. But yes, Boomyal does know how to make a turkey taste better than most.

Major stores NOW DEMAND I open a full account to buy anything.

That only works when the possibility is offered. Many do not have that possibility. I use the other alternative which is just not buying from those companies. I realize that I must be fighting windmills and as such prone to lose no matter what, but at least it gives me the illusion of fighting...

Major stores NOW DEMAND I open a full account to buy anything.

I also have a bone to pick here. All those companies wanting me to register with them in order to become a "registered member" complete with username and password. And no, its not that the companies run a risk of unsupported credit card, because the payment is always verified before the...

    86' mercruiser 3.0 exhaust bellow

The bellows on the 86 Mercruisers are a huge pain to install. I used many very very bad curse words while doing that. The things mentioned about cleaning properly are generally true specially if using the glue. But the glue is tricky. It usually ended up all over my hands and some where it...

Old motors DEMAND to be retired when they are 65 years old..

One more thing. If the original thread starter is a "force" owner, his argument might be more understandable and he can be forgiven.

Old motors DEMAND to be retired when they are 65 years old..

There are a few more socioeconomic cause and result facts that I might mention , but I like this chatroom and do not want to get kicked off ,so Peace and steady waters to all of you. I'll stick to opinions about engines.

Old motors DEMAND to be retired when they are 65 years old..

Actually, that is not a joke at all. The problem for all the outboard manufacturers was that once a customer bought an outboard he usually was set for life. Specially when the outboard was used only during a few months in summer. High quality, mass production and light use caused the market...

Old motors DEMAND to be retired when they are 65 years old..

I have three 1957 35horse Seahorses and the engine blocks are the sturdiest ever. I run them for fun and they are in tiptop shape. Of course if you use them in salt water and do not clean them up. it becomes a different story.

You should test all four cylinders after warming up the engine. The pictures show an even 175 psi which is good, but what about the 4th one?

Mercruiser 4.3 Engine - empty carb bowl

The smart thing is removing the carburetor and do a complete rebuild or have it done. There should be places in the Netherlands where people do this. If you do anything less than the whole job,it will come back and bite you in the $$s. Also make sure to find out where the fuel smell comes from...

going to buy a used mercruiser

Go with a musical tuner or a magnifying glass over the block to hear or see any cracks in the block. There can be good compression in spite of a crack in the block. I found that out the hard way. Make sure that your lower unit is an Alpha 1 so things fit not just size wise but also gear wise...

    Tohatsu. question

Presuming that you have the engine running while flushing, it is a problem. When you flush it on the muffs you should make sure that there is enough water pressure on the muffs to make the water get into the pump housing so the pump can push the water up. When you flush with a barrel ,the water...
