Shot in the Dark Depth Transducer Compatibility

Ok here comes a fairly educated guess . The plug is a female end called a 5-8 F G This is used on the Airmar B117 and fits Garmin and Echomap units of several years. It is a 600 Before you go out and buy, go find somebody with a garmin fishfinder and double check this info. I am pretty sure...

Shot in the Dark Depth Transducer Compatibility

this may help : Most through hull transducers are made by Airmar . If there is a number or a name on the transducer you can use this as a guide. https://www.airmarweb.com/xref.html

Installing a transducer in an aluminum boat

It certainly is the easiest way to go and while trolling it works great. But when scouting for fish at higher speeds (say 10 mph) it becomes much less so because of turbulence. Shooting through a metal hull is a no no . It does not work. The only way to go through the hull is by making a hole in...

Installing a transducer in an aluminum boat

The ringing would only be an issue if you glue the transducer down onto the aluminum. the way to go is to drill a hole through the aluminum and install the transducer that way. Airmar sells them with this installation in mind. ( I wrote it this way because I always get mixed up between "through...

Installing a transducer in an aluminum boat

I have installed several airmar transducers right through the hull of Starcraft Islanders . All you really have to do is drill a hole the size of the transducer and install it. Now because it is aluminum and because you don't want corrosion you will have to get a transducer with a plastic body...

I used up all my curse words yesterday

I cannot help you very much with the spark plugs, but it is easy to extend your curse word vocabulary. Just walk over to your friendly Russian neighbor and ask him. There are a great and juicy number of Russian curses that are just asking to be muttered under one's breath. I could mention a few...

    1979 55HP Johnson

You should certainly go over the carburetor and make sure that all the hoses are in good condition. You may have chanced on pre 2000 rubber which is not ethanol resistant and may have partially rotted out. and all the nuts and bolts should be properly fastened. As for the black stuff dripping...

I used up all my curse words yesterday

It is my firm opinion that this would never have happened if a farmer would have designed that engine.

    Birds in the boat . . .

You may want to take in consideration that small songbird hatchlings usually leave the nest anywhere between 10 days to 2 weeks before leaving the nest. They will not come back to the nest after leaving.

    Fuel pump

It looks like you took a perfectly fine fuel pump apart. I do believe that you problem is in your carburetor. Or with the position of the fuel enrichener on your remote. Starter fluid is very unhealthy for two stroke engines, unless you mix a bit of oil in with it

Engine runs for 1 minute and stalls, then starts with no problem. Merc A1G1 140 HP

It seems to me that your problem is a blockage before the filter. Maybe crud in the tank outlet /filter. Or maybe an air leak somewhere in the line that causes your fuel pump to suck air instead of fuel

    Chain worth it?

There is a restaurant there that serves fresh caught walleye (pickerel in Canadian English) I was a bit doubtful when I read pickerel on the menue, But it was worth every bite.

ID odd length Lower unit 9.9/15hp series

When you look at the actual shaft, does it look like it could be cut in 2 and fit 2 short shaft outboards? Maybe somebody just machined a double length short shaft , but never got around to cutting it in two and finishing the job.

ID odd length Lower unit 9.9/15hp series

Is it just the driveshaft that is longer or is it the lower unit housing as well? I have heard something about house boats that used 2 or 3 of the 5 inch extension pieces to make the engine more accessible for service, but that was a long time ago. Another thing I have heard about is using the...

Scientist claim to have brought back Dire wolf

The woolly mammoth? I love woolen sweaters that's why. But seriously, the only reason I can think of is the somehow romantic idea of bringing back something that is fresh in nordic memory and big and spectacular.

It is fuel starved for sure. Sounds like a fuel hose connection or a defective fuel pump.
