    Need Help

So did mine until a closer inspection with a hose and water Overtime and lots of pounding, the screws holding the liner to the hull came loose. Water was getting behind the rub rail and thru the openings in the joint. Removed the rub rail and removed the screws one section at a time. Filled...

    RPM range question

What boat are you running? Without knowing the exact boat, I’m guessing you’re about 100 hp short, if not more, for a 25’ walkaround. My 22’ is rated for 280hp, hung with a 225hp. My one buddies 24’ is rated at 350 hp, hung with 275 HP. Another friend has twin 175HP on his 25’WA I’m running a...

    Winterize carb

Methanol? Are you sure it’s not ethanol? EO or E10 will gum up over time if left untreated. I throw a bottle a Stabil in the tank before the last outing of the season. Starts right up in the Spring

    Floor scupper replacement ball

I’ve never seen balls in a scupper drain. Trying to get my head around how that would work. I can see a ball stopping water from entering, but how does the water get out? https://www.westmarine.com/perko-check-ball-only-for-cockpit-scupper-0142-14121925.html

Chainsaw cutting lube in a pinch

Most bar oils are ~ 30 weight, they also contain a tackifier for better adhesion to the bar. Helps to keep the oil from being thrown off the bar during operation. If you use motor oil with an automatic chain oiling system, be prepared to supplement to keep adequate oil on the bar.

    Smart tabs.

“Ship happens” is the reason for the 30/30/30 rule. My speed and fuel economy drops with every gallon I put in the tank. Makes carrying an excessive fuel load a liability. I typically run 50-60 miles a day. Following the 30/30/30 rule, I carry ~ 40 gallons (98 gallon tank) to get me through...

    Tilt/trim pump

An electrical circuit shutting down when warm is a thermal issue, especially if a motor is involved. First thing I’d check is to see if the pump is getting warm/hot, tripping the overload or a relay is getting hot and opening up on you. You can pretty quickly eliminate a ground ground...

Adding Distilled water to battery. what qualifies as distilled?

My “tap water” comes from an aquifer 275’ below the ground. Never had a problem using it to top off batteries Has a pH of 6.8 and a TDS less than 60 ppm coming out of the tap. Max allowed in drinking water….500ppm Distilled water is 0.0-0.5 ppm Having had automotive finishes damaged by “acid”...

1996 Mercury 150hp EFI --- Need an OEM Service and Parts Manual

According to the parts manual, the manual for your motor is 90-824052R3 SM O/B V6 135-225 There are a lot of different models (configurations) built on a common V6 engine platform. I’m not a Merc guy so I can speak to specifics but….do you really need separate manuals to cover a 200 and 225...

    Yamaha 130 power trim relay

There are only so many relay manufacturers in the world, Yamaha isn’t one of them. A relay is a relay….as long as the voltage and current ratings are the same, or better. Unsure….buy two aftermarket, keep one as a backup until proven

    1976 Starcraft Mariner 21' Layout Changes? (v2)

If the intent is to provide more floor space for fishing while maintaining 360 access to the gunnel, I'd get rid of the casting platforms. Leave the console in the center, but move it (console) back towards the stern a foot or so

    good morning :)

Couple of reasons.... 1. I buy fuel each and every outing. Navigating a busy filling station with 42 ft. long truck/trailer combo is a pain. 2. My boat has a 154 gallon fuel capacity. Grief from Mrs. Dingbat about fishing expenses
