Thinking of upgrading to Sea Ray 210BR

The common thing is the wood structure and at 24 years old, it is a bit beyond the boat's design life. So, you should take a deeper look into the structure of the boat to see if there are signs of moisture/rot within the structure. Much of the structure can probably be looked at via the engine...

2022 Boating Season - help for first time boat buyers

Fuel is only a portion of what it costs to own/operate/maintain a boat. So, an increase in fuel prices is not a deal breaker in most cases. If it were, then you probably cannot afford the boat anyway. It is hard to say if you are over paying. Supply & demand over the Spring buying season will...

How Far Can an Electric Truck Tow?

Just looked it up . . . although not specifically found on the Ford website . . . Tow rating of the F-150 Lightning 7,700 lbs . . . 10,000 lbs with extended battery. BTW - the extended battery adds about $18K to the price of the XLT trim version. I think the most I've paid for a car (or...

How Far Can an Electric Truck Tow?

I think the demand for trucks has driven the prices so high. When I was searching for a truck to tow my boat (back in Oct-Nov of last year), I briefly took a look at new truck prices. $60K seemed to be the price of entry for anything decent with the tow rating I needed, and the supply was...

    Rec gas prices???

Remember this back in 1974 ? . Waiting in lines to get a limit of 10 gallons of gas. National speed limits reduced to save on fuel (you guys know that lower speeds and smoother driving habits use less fuel . . . right? ). Gas prices went up so fast (basically doubled) the fuel pumps had to...

    Rec gas prices???

Octane is the resistance to auto-ignition (aka pre-ignition or knocking). The actual energy within the fuel is the same regardless. Higher octane generally results in a more effective release and utilization of the fuel’s energy within an engine

Hi all, newbie here sharing my fresh project

Welcome, Those free boat can be really expensive, but it looks like you are digging into it. As the others have stated, probably not the best restoration from 8 years ago, else the boat would be in better shape. Engine and outdrive also looks like they will keep you busy. Following along for...

    what's one more boat ? - 1979 Sunfish

I introduced my family to boating with a Sunfish. I still have it to this day, but don't get it out often (too many boats). If I can grab a trailer for mine, I'd probably use it more often.

    Rec gas prices???

I think that my fuel usage on the boat(s) is 400-500 gallons per year. The boats generally cost $4-5K each year to own/operate/maintain. The extra cost of fuel will raise my cost about $500-$1,000. I will probably frequent the marina gas less and do more re-fueling from regular gas...

    Q. Factory : 2022 Mercury 565 racing engine.) & ( Mercury 496 Mag H/O bravo one ) boat spd (Q).

140 HP increase from 425 HP would get you about 10% increase in speed by my calculations. :D So, if you were getting high 50's (mph), you will probably get low 60's with the HP increase. BTW - you forgot to tell us what the top speed is/was with the 425 hp.
