    Rec gas prices???

Here in Pennsylvania they use a formula to figure how much gas was bought by boaters. That amount is transferred from the DOT general fund to the Fish & Boat Commission boat fund. The monies are used for boating safety education, aids to navigation, boat law enforcement, access and launch...

Looking for Tracker Targa Transom Corner Cap

Local weld shop could fabricate that. Since you have the one side it would be simple to make a pattern for the port side. Probably 5083 or 5383 plate. Any shop with marine experience could fix you up.

    Nada Guide

True value is what one willing buyer will pay to one willing seller for an item. Book value is based on collected data of the average selling price of an item. I suspect that NADA values or based on a small percentage of the actual number of sales on that item. Statistic calculations accuracy...

Fuel Consumption - Is This Right?

My mistake: Change mpg to fuel burn rate . My brain got ahead of my fingers when typing this . Thanks Scott, missed that when I first proof read it. Another senior moment.

Fuel Consumption - Is This Right?

There is an old rule of thumb that mpg at full throttle is equal to 10% of motor horsepower. In you case 6 mpg. Those older OMC's were known as fuel hogs so depending on many things including loading, prop, engine age and on and on you are probably in the ballpark at 4. What is the max HP you...

Power drops at console when hitting switch/turning ignition

If you haven't done it already remove and clean your battery connections. Sounds like a corroded connection or the main wire off the battery is corroded at the connector. You have just enough of a connection to power a voltmeter but any higher amp draw fails. Just ran into the same type of...

Just purchased the new Lowrance HDS9 Live Fish Finder, I have a transducer question.

Hard to say with out seeing where it is mounted. Is it mounted so high that it is out of the water at moderate speeds? Is there something directly in front of it causing turbulence? Need a picture to help. Also take a look at...

    Help with alarm and alternator

Don't know about your motor or wiring but things have changed since I was a kid. My truck controls the solid state regulator in the alternator by a signal from the powertrain control module (PCM) That signal comes from the PCM as a clipped signal and the charging rate is controlled by the...

    Hey Newbies

Like the message that was on the forum for my home lake a couple of evenings ago; "Was planning on going out in the morning. Lost all power to my boat while installing an ignition switch today. If anyone has any input or knows of someone that can fix my problem it would be greatly appreciated"...

What tools needed to check over an old project bass boat before buying?

Here is the page on how your system works. The factory manual does not tell how to test the system without having their analyzer so you have to go by the CDI instructions.

What tools needed to check over an old project bass boat before buying?

This should be yours; I was thinking of the 1976 850 that shut off by grounding the switch box.

What tools needed to check over an old project bass boat before buying?

It has been a long time since I owned an inline Merc and between my 82 year old memory and eyes I don't think I could find it in a picture. The last manuals I still have only go up to 1977. If you could post the serial number on the motor I might be able to point you to the right info. I just...

What tools needed to check over an old project bass boat before buying?

Not a good thing to do. Any jumping around on various terminals could cause damage somewhere in the system. Do the step by step tests to find the bad component. This does require a decent multimeter and a DVA adapter to read peak DC voltages. The only simple test is to remove the black with...

What tools needed to check over an old project bass boat before buying?

No, you will not hear anything from the switchbox. Without being there with a wiring diagram in hand and test meters I am afraid I can't diagnose the problem. Did you read the info on the CDI guide? It should give you the step by step instructions.

What tools needed to check over an old project bass boat before buying?

Yes, along with at least a dozen other things. As simple as the kill switch if it has one not having the lanyard hooked up to a lot of expensive things. I would suggest you get the factory manual for that motor before you start throwing parts at it. Those older Mercs are know for wiring being...
