    My boat in saltwater

My main ingredients for maintaining my boats in salt water are: Marine grease Fogging oil Barnacle Buster Iron Out A full closed cooling system is a must if you have an I/O, I'm not sure flushing will hold off the gremlins for that long. I have a few small outboards that are 35-50 years...

    My boat in saltwater

Boats go in salt water . . . that's what they do. I keep my boats in salt water. Don't worry too much about dunking your in the ocean, particularly since you rinse it out. Make sure you keep your anodes fresh and are of the correct type. Will you be going in both fresh and salt on a regular...

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

It looks like I can get the Spradling Beluga Pure White, the original white. I cannot find the Nautolex Cetacea. So, it may be the Spradling for the white. I don't need much quilted, so I may make my own. I touched base with the Royal Palms person - will be sending them a sample image.

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

I know what you are saying, sounds like a lot of work though. Not sure how I could do a diamond pattern that way. I have also considered buying some pre-quilted vinyl, but the quality level is a bit unknown. I have seen that Great Lakes Skipper has some excess material from the boat...

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

I did find some pictures online of quilting on the Cruisers 338 seating. I think it is on the 'Palm Beach' Edition of the boats. FYI - there is the 'CX' version (which I have, the 'South Beach' version and the 'Palm Beach' version. There used to be a 'Black Diamond' version, which is the...

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

Yes, I did add some quilting on my Formula 330 re-upholstering, but not sure I can work it into this project. The sidewalls on the boat have the diamond pattern quilting . . . I'll have to give quilting some thought as far as adding it to the seats. (y)

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

Quick update . . . I set up and adjusted my sewing machine.. . . I was able to disassemble the rear seat, which was no small feat. The seat is a back-to-back triple width that can lay flat making a sun pad. There is a power actuator which extends/retracts the seat. The seat is made up of 6...

    Windows 11 yes/no?

All seriousness aside, I'm waiting for the Mac OSX version of it to come out :ROFLMAO: Win11 is something that folks will eventually have/want to upgrade to. 'We' in the IT group at my work have yet to discuss it, giving it some time for the first set of patches (and maybe even a service...

    Corrosion on drive

I hate warranties, often there is so much false hope followed by frustration and let down. I hope Volvo comes through for you.

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

Thanks for the advice @Scott Danforth The Tenara thread is PFTE, like Solarfix. My challenge may be to find all the colors that I need (red, white, black, light gray) Do let me know about the embroidery contact, as I may want to have the red panels of the seat backs embroidered, just like...

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

Correct, no thoughts of a full set of Boltaflex Colorguard. I want to stay in the same ballpark with texture variation, because I like the look. I have been trying to match the original texture as much as possible across the brands. The white is pretty much an exact match, the light gray a...

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

Greetings, I could easily title this thread 'Here I go again . . .' another upholstery job. This time it is on the new-2-me boat . . . a 2016 Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider. The boat is only 5 years old and the cockpit seating is already in need of some serious work. The backstory is that in my...

    More testing on Sharrow prop...

Nice idea of a prop, but probably needs more test results and comparisons. . . and a lower price. Does anyone find something wrong with a boat/prop setup that won't plane at 3000 RPM? . . . as alluded to in the testing.

    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

Also, there is NO drain plug on this boat . . . I looked all over and under. It does have a 5" 'Pad' as the keel, which I think allows the hull to be of a sharper 'V' and not draw quite as much water as it would with the conventional hull/keel.

    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

Yes, they do . . . It also seems that with all the electronic controls and digital stuff that fixing things is more expensive. Old school trim senders are about $50 . . . the digital versions are $150  o_O 🤪

    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

I am lining up my projects for the winter/spring months (and beyond) in preparation for boat launch. Upholstery - will be the big project. I plan to add some color to the mostly gray upholstery. Microwave - this boat was void of a few of the more common options, like the microwave. Second...

    My Winter Hobby

Yes, I'll have to stop by one of these days. (y) The Admiral and I have been taking care of her father in VT who has been needing lots of medical and home care lately.

Installed trim tabs this year.. noticed some moisture in wood.. Help!

Water leaking through the cover would not be directly related to transom moisture, unless you are storing the boat with the plug in and allowing water to collect at the transom. You could use an economical moisture meter ($35) to check for moisture in the transom and structure. From the inside...

    Retirement in another Country

When I retire, I'm staying right where I am, because I'm too darn lazy to move. I've been to Canada only twice but I felt very healthy while there. :ROFLMAO:
