Very nice!!!! A newer motor is on the wish list, but can't argue with a working motor I already have. On another note, that is a lot of weight hanging from the back. How you supporting it when driving? Don't think a transom saver will do the job in this case. SHSU

Glad you got the engine mostly figured out. At least you got WOT and unless you can't idle I wouldn't mess with the idle screws. As for the tach, you sure you have the Tachometer set to the correct setting for your engine or is it just not reading? SHSU

Don't worry, it took me 2 1/2 years to get ours finished. It will be even more fulfilling because of the added length and commitment. SHSU

    Boat is slow

A 40HP to get a 16ft boat loaded down with gear and people on plane is asking a bit much in my opinion. You got to fight the weight of the boat to get it up on its own wave to plane. A whale tail might help, but again 40 HP is way under powered. Past comments I have seen from others is to max...

Dark colors hold more heat but like the blue. That being said, have no experience with EV foam. Would have to defer to @Moserkr as I believe he installed that stuff on his build. SHSU

I do the same and use it as my additive for stabilizer. Knock on wood, haven't had an issue yet. SHSU

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Nothing like repurposed material. Cheap and effective!!! As for the experience on the water, all part of learning (I have had my fair share...). You will just be more careful next time you are out and about. Makes you a better Captain. SHSU

Congrats on the SPLASH!!!!! Nothing like the first time out. As for the outboard, suggest a good deep cleaning of the carbs and a rebuild kit, new water pump, check the gear case oil, etc.... Anything else would have to defer to the appropriate motor forum. SHSU

Interesting chart. If am reading it correctly, Sika blows the pants off 5200 in shear strength on aluminum. I might have to rethink use of 5200. SHSU

Direct front impact is all it would help with in my opinion. So unless you are planning on slamming a bunch of weight on it, then up to you. SHSU

5200 is our best friend. lol Also, the anode I have on my boat ~2 inches circular. Its been going for 4 years, mostly in saltwater. Starting to look ratty but still has life in it and will look to replace after this year. Do a couple checks a year to make sure I still have continuity to the...

May want to see about making the wooden transom full sized too. In mine, it only covers half the back from factory. SHSU

What extra knee bracing are you putting on the transom to support the bracket? If only using factory knee brace, highly suggest looking at adding extra. SHSU
