2004 Yamaha T50 TLRC Internal Corrosion

I would seriously doubt it’s an alloy issue. Very well studied and understood even back in the early 80’s when I worked on a project with Alcan, now Novelis studying the feasibility of using aluminum in automotive under carriages. Problem you run into is aluminum’s reactivity to a number of...

2004 Yamaha T50 TLRC Internal Corrosion

I’ve fought this very same issue in the cooling systems of our equipment for years. Some customers have constant ours others not so much. Known variables…..temperature, water chemistry, dissimilar metals, ground potentials and the alloy. After a little research it’s a known issue with pre-2006...

2004 Yamaha T50 TLRC Internal Corrosion

The acidity or alkalinity of the environment significantly affects the corrosion behavior of aluminum alloys. Aluminum oxide (aluminum’s protective coating) is insoluble in a pH of 4-8. Outside this range, aluminum oxide becomes soluble and quickly starts to deteriorate. Aluminum oxide is...

2004 Yamaha T50 TLRC Internal Corrosion

Calcium deposits from “hard” water. Same stuff that builds up on the inside of hot water tanks and recirculating systems over time. Increasing the water temp would increase the rate of deposit as would low pH of the water.

    Fishing boat with cabin.

Then add air conditioning to your list....lol and a queen size bed and an extra #1,000 of weight capacity In reality, sleeping in the cabin of a "small" boat suxs. Hot, damp and cramped after a long day of fishing isn't my idea of comfortable. Mrs. Dingbat has an even lower opinion...lol...

    Boat leaning

Having never run your boat, I’m guessing the hull is the largest contributor to your problem. Deep V are notorious for bad sea keeping. In effect they teeter port to starboard on the keel. Problems with weight distribution only amplify the problem. Having said that.....every hull...

Thru Hull valve repair or replace

You have nothing to loose by tearing it apart to see why it’s not working. Could be a simple fix. Having said that..I’d change it out for an updated valve if it isn’t a pain to do. Mine would be a royal pain. The strainer is screwed into the bottom port then the seacock thru-bolted to the...

    Fishing boat with cabin.

What do you consider offshore? - Hull design and fuel capacity What kind of fishing? - Hull design and Floor space Where is futher South? - Some pretty tough inlets between Rehoboth, DE and Morehead City, NC Generally speaking......"small boat" cabins and offshore fishing are not all that...

Has anyone ever added EVC to a non-EVC motor?

As I suspected, it's multiple computers networked to a common ECU Description starts on page 10 https://manualzz.com/doc/57111224/volvo-penta-evc-ec--c-installation-manual

    Fuel problem

This type of behavior is typically compression and or exhaust issues. What are your compression numbers? Checked your floats and needle valves for proper adjustment and operation? A hung float or crud stuck in your float valve will return similar results

3500# axle cap and water incursion

I have used the rubber plugs for year w/o any problems other than UV dry rotting them after 2-3 years of use. I buy local and brand name (Dexter)to make sure I'm not getting a Amazon knock-offs

    Automotive Ground Straps

The flat copper cables have a very large cross section with very fine wires to keep resistance to a minimum. Will need a 2-4 ga copper wire to be comparable

    Hole shot, or up easy?

My hull design is such that between 4 kts and 20 kts. it's pushing a huge wake, burning a ton of fuel in the process. Much easier on both motor and fuel to drop the tabs and firewall the throttle to get the boat up on plane in the least amount of time. Doesn't take but a couple of seconds to...

    Pressfit Trailer Lights are Stupid!

Our horse trailer uses grommet mounts. Does he replace grommet and all or just the light? Had some similar issues until I started replacing both the grommets and lamps. Never had a problem since.

    WOT Issue (Maybe?)

If you're trying to "clean out" the fuel system, E10 would have been a better choice.

    Boat leaning

Guessing it’s a combination of hull design (old school deep V) and the duoprop since your leaning left. Normal props tend to push you starboard. I’m running a 22’ W/A with an outboard, hardtop and 12x12 tabs with a continuous variable deadrise hull design. Very stable Cruise at 27 kts. Keep...

    Electrical question

What connections? Obviously the problem is in the “connections” You realize that voltage is only half the equation…you need current as well. Guessing you have a bad or corroded connector

    Slow mode vro

The alarm is a simple open /close circuit. Power (12v) is applied (constant) to the horn. The offending sensor simply provides the ground path. As such, any shorts to ground in the circuit will set off the alarm
