    Question on bimini top location

I've been a boater since 1954. Experience trumps everything else. I'm here to learn new things (nobody knows everything), but more importantly to help others. If you don't like my opinion, keep it to yourself. If you want to be a smarta$$, just move along.

    Can't Open this site

When I worked 365 was required. Hated it. Never put it on my home setup. I never used Edge either, but as of now it's the ONLY thing that will open Iboats.

    Question on bimini top location

Obviously, a PO removed the strap and added a bracing bar in its place. As a matter of fact, I did that very thing eons ago on an old boat when the strap needed to be replaced. Poor choice on my part because the fixed mount would not allow tightening when needed. Furthermore, my new bar was...

    Can't Open this site

Update of what? I just downloaded the current version of MS Edge and that didn't solve the problem.

    Can't Open this site

I've been on here for years. All of a sudden last week I can't get on. I click on the link and it comes up for a fraction of a second, and then goes blank and will not load. I am using AOL Desktop gold and the browser is MS Edge. If I go to edge by itself, it will open. That's how I got...

Is something wrong with the jack on my trailer?

I used to buy Fulton jacks and they worked OK but were kinda cheap. The last was a Dutton and that was a good one. Currently I have 2 Knott jacks that were oem on the trailer and they are exceptional. Lubrication goes without saying. I thought lubing the jack and greasing the wheel bearings...

    Question on bimini top location

In my opinion, even the shortest available bimini is too much of an encumbrance on a little 14' tinny. The custom factory setup I switched to was purposely designed to enable fishing from any location.

Is something wrong with the jack on my trailer?

It isn't normal on any of the many jacks I've had over the years.

Is something wrong with the jack on my trailer?

If the ball is not turning in the direction you want it's because its extended too high and the shaft is binding. I have the same problem on my little boat like yours, plus my bigger ones. Lower the tongue so it's just slightly below level and try again. When I detach from the car obviously...

    Question on bimini top location

All biminis have a center fixed mount for the rods, with a second detachable mount for one end (either fore or aft). The opposite end is attached with an adjustable strap. It has to be that way or there would be no way to adjust tightness of the assembly.

    Winter Storage

That is the most bizarre idea I ever heard. Even the owner's manual says you need to mix it with the gas and then run the engine so the stabil gets thru the entire fuel system. Please, please give us a link to where you READ this. I am extremely anxious to see who wrote that piece. Separate...

    Winter Storage

Likely longer than that. The Owner's Manual for my 70 year old Merc also said to use gasoline stabilizer.... Hahaha...Stabil ain't a new concept.

    Question on bimini top location

Just my opinion, so don't take offense. At my age I have had some sun related problems, so I put a bimini on my 14' utility fishing boat. I just could not sit out in the sun all day on a fishing trip. It was unmanageable. It got in the way for everything. Besides, when on plane it acted like...

    replacing tires

I always jack on the axle. If you use the frame you have to go wayyyy high. Also, I never liked the idea of replacing 2 tires at the same time. Then, you have to support the whole thing. One at a time to the tire shop is a hassle. Then, I found the solution. Find the tires you want and buy...

What is this on the transom?

I ordered my Whaler with a Raymarine Downvision chirp system. I can switch it to "fishfinder" or "Downvision" as I desire. It shows me a detailed view of the bottom, OR a bunch of fish. First of all, I don't admit to knowing all the complicated stuff, but I can only report my findings. Our...

    Fuel treatment question.....

I have a 42 year old classic car that gets driven only about 100 miles per year. I only use E10. I usually put about 5 gallons of gas in each Summer, with stabilizer for the 5 gallons at the same time. I would guess that the gas in the tank right now is a combination of 1, 2 and 3 years old...

What is this on the transom?

Would love to see a picture of that! Do you happen to have some? I will go with your route. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- You aren't a real boater unless you drill a bunch of holes to add custom equipment. Routing wires over the transom looks so...

    Help identify this hardware

I had to laugh. In The USA that used to be the ONLY way trailers were built. Then we'all got lazy and didn't maintain our equipment so the manufacturers stapled some carpet on a twobafore and called it a day. Personally, I have never owned a trailer without them, and never will.
