    FastracTrim, 1993 and newer 60-300hp

Replaced the trim motor. Everything seems to function properly, but the motor stalls when the cylinder reaches the ends of stroke, both up and down. Is this normal operation? Don't remember if the motor stalled or kept running once the relief valve(s) open?

    Sea Towing Covered by Insurance

Long time BoatUS tow member. Had not been towed in years so I canceled my unlimited membership and used the Progressive tow insurance. Used Progressive service twice. Both times the same towing service that locally supports Sea Tow and Boat US showed up. Both times I paid up front and...

    Intermittent Alarm

In my situation, it seemed to manifest as a leak (vacuum) instead of a restriction (blockage). Don't remember it happening while running. Always trolling which lead to the vacuum leak theory

    Intermittent Alarm

Had a similar issue running off the reserve tank when low on fuel. Seemed to worsen when fuel was sloshing around in the rough. Changed the fuel lines (tank to fuel pump) and tank selector valve...........problem never came back

    Bay boats offshore

It’s a cross between a flats boat and a center console. My issue with them is lack of freeboard and bow flare A buddy has an Everglades 243. Nice boat for flounder fishing the backwater. He hitches a ride offshore https://www.evergladesboats.com/sportfish/bay-boats/243cc/

    Bay boats offshore

Guys fish out 10-15 miles in kayaks so it’s possible in good conditions. Having said that, I wouldn’t buy a bay boat for regular use out front. “Good days” can be few and far between

What you’re up against...... https://airmartechnology.com/uploads/news/June%20Airmar%20Sounder%20Newsletter.pdf The competition...... http://www.radarsonics.com/AlumaDucer.htm Airmar does not recommend it. The transducer's sensitivity will be reduced transmitting through the metal hull, so you...

    Metal transom protector

Evinrude made one for my motor, Ocean Pro logo and all, but basically nothing more than a glorified fender washer (top motor bolts) when all is said and done

Using hose flush to cool engine.

I have friends with twin Yammi 150 and 200s. Both run (idle) their motors on flush port for short periods of time for test purposes.

    Metal transom protector

I use neither If 2.5" of glass and wood is not sufficient to support the weight of the motor, an measly piece of 1/8" thk. aluminum isn't going to help.

    Helicoil issues

Timeserts are an adaptation of interference fit (SS) inserts used to "harden" threads in aluminum. We used them for years in our products. They work very well but typically require specialty tooling to insert them correctly.

Really stiff steering 2021 300 Mercury Pro Xs

What do you mean by "stiff"? Turning a 300 HP outboard isn't going to be effort free w/o power steering. Running the motor out of trim or a mis-adjusted torque tab will exasperate the problem

    Helicoil issues

Helicoils in aluminum are a "quick fix" at best.........will fail sooner than later if the fastener is removed repetitively. The best long term solution is to replace the head.

Shocks AND leaf springs on my trailer??

"Home made" as in not commercially available... i.e. custom made by Reliable Manufacturing

Shocks AND leaf springs on my trailer??

Since they are not galvanized, I’m guessing the shock brackets are homemade. Certainly wouldn’t be hard to fabricate

What is this gel-like substance in my carb? Mercruiser 3.0L Alpha 1

Looks like the liner out of a fuel hose. When was the last time the fuel hoses where changed? A 15 yro fuel line is well past it’s life expectancy of 10 years, at best

    Outboard Detailing

It a “marine” engine. It’s designed to be run in wet, humid conditions. Certainly don't “drown” the thing but a light spray wouldn’t harm anything. Can’t speak for your configuration but the air box limos access. I removed mine. Covered the intake of the carbs (6) using sandwich bags and...
