    Yes, the bottom button powers the drive down, the middle is for trim, and top is for trailer. Middle and top both have to be on for trailer.

    These 470 based engines do have a timing chain tensioner. I don't know how common they are for failure. Do you have room to pull the harmonic balancer off with the engine in the boat.

    By adjusting the stud higher in the slotted opening, you are extending the amount of travel the cable makes, allowing reverse to engage. Here is a video one of our mods made on checking cable stretch and adjustment. It is in the "Adults Only" sticky at the beginning of this forum.
