    Profiling change

Can't seem to find out how to change my profile with this new software. Pull up ME and click on the only cue that seems applicable and it takes me to a blank drop down window wanting me to select an item....of which there are none. I want to change my current boat.

    Outboard Overheating?

Follow the tube back to the origin. Where is it connected? I ask the question as you have the exhaust loop and the powerhead loop controlled by a thermostat and possibly a higher rpm popoff valve...not up on your engine. The Tstat will make the water in the block hotter if tapped off there...

    1954 Gale buccaneer

Agree with the answer. I remember back in the day. A sporting goods store was on the main drag the next block over from my house. Inside was a Holmes Boat Works, Harrisburg Rd., Houston, Tx. plywood skiff of 16' with a wide beam, varnished as was the case back then, sitting on some cushions...

Did I make a bad mistake?

The brown wire is usually the Over Temp sense since the sensor is buried in the water jacket cover right where you are pointing. It supplies a ground when experiencing temps in the 195F range to the warning horn located in your control box or close to it. Thermostats usually run between...

    Cleaning pontoons

Muratic Acid is what OTR truck wash stations use to make 100 gallon fuel tanks sparkle. Your requirement may require some removal of marine growth before the acid can get to the aluminum if you decide to use that.

    Mercury 80hp 800 1970s LU oil type

Mercury/Quicksilver Premium works just fine, in a quart with a pump and connection hose at WW sporting goods dept...where you buy your TC-W3 oil...on the same shelf, for a reasonable price. Just need a quart

1998 mercury 60hp oil pump removal questions

Well when I did my 90 2 stroker, I came home from an outing one day and with the engine in that configuration, I undid 3 screws and one hose to get access to the drive gear/shaft (sticking out of the pump)...pulled it out, no other parts visible, stuck the pump back in, reinserted the hose and 3...

Radar Arch Boat Stability 20’ Crestliner

I'd mount it to the side of the steering/instrument console with a flange screw mounted to the floor (deck) and support brackets, 2 at least supporting it against the console. I have super large unbrellas I use in the summer and I mounted a support pole for them in this location and it's...

    Continuous Beep - Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

Yeah, Faz, I totally missed the 1987 year model...another brain fart. I had a 1988 115 tower and would have known better.

    1995 0r 96 Merc. 2 stroke 40 HP Smoke comes out cowl

Is is smoke or steam? Is it coming from under the cowl, or just behind the cowl at the rear of the engine, a few inches below the bottom of the cowl....the holes in the midsection used for exhaust relief when boat it in the water, engine running but not moving...designed to do that. Oil on the...

    Spun hub?

Get some sort of permanent marker...a scribe line where you cut through the paint to the aluminum would work. Scribe the line from the protrusion on the right side of the prop in picture #2 straight back to the main prop area and on across the main area enough to see that if the two parts move...

    Continuous Beep - Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

I don't have a 60 nor ever had one but I have it's big brothers the 90 and 115, 3 and 4 cyl. 2 strokers. Standing at the rear of the engine and looking at the back of the engine block...where the spark plugs are located, at the upper left corner of that "water jacket cover plate" is a scab on...

    2 stroke or 4 stroke

I'm going to say 2 stroke because 90 hp comes in 3 cyl. Most 4 strokers of that size use I4s as I recall......for a simplistic reply.

    2004 Mercury 115 hp starter

Engine to battery connections consist of large gauge, AWG 4 maybe, colored red for + and black for - wires. Black usually attaches under a engine block bolt (somewhere on the engine block also being where that large lug at the top of your pictures attaches), and Red goes to that 3/8" copper...

    2004 Mercury 115 hp starter

Never saw your starter buttttt basics tell me that the large black wired lug at the top goes to the engine block if the battery - is attached there or wherever the battery - is connected...has a high current path...like somewhere on the engine block. The signal wire to cause the solenoid close...

    2001 Mercury 60hp Bigfoot

Well sir I posted my understanding. I assume Merc got the idea from Scott Atwater back in the '60's where they had a 14 HP powerhead connected to one of their larger engines, 40 twin, 60 or 75 HP triple, lower units. Amazing what 14 HP could do with that and knew of at least 2 on toons....and...

2003 Fishmaster Travis edition 19 ft Identification issues

Travis Boat Sales on Highway 35E in Lewisville, Tx. used to sell them. I had one, as a matter of fact, was the second owner, 2 year old boat, 2002 edition..... my Avatar is it with a 90 Merc....kissing 50. It was aluminum Bass Boat, had a stepped hull so at the time the picture was taken...

    2001 Mercury 60hp Bigfoot

I assume your boat is a flat bottom, aluminum, open construction, cross seat, engine operated from the rear seat with an attached tiller handle, or possibly a side mounted console mounted just forward of the rear cross seat with a steering wheel and remote controls type boat used for things...

2000 Mercury (Tracker) 125 2+2 motor making gas slicks in idle

Ever replaced your fuel lines? Running ethanol, I found that 10 years and time for new on a 2002 90 triple of the series. Other place would be carb needle valve not shutting off fuel to carb bowl like it should and fuel comes out the carb venturi, especially when running tilted up...
