1988 force Full throttle only 3500 rpm

Situational-depends what you’re comfortable with, what you’ve got access to and what you’ll accept as good enough. As redbarron said “ in my opinion”. We’re all in the same boat so to speak and all speak from personal preferences or experience

    Trim and tilt visible leaks

88 force125hp. Seeing visible leaks from around trim piston and tilt. Ordered the o-rings and going to grab a pin tool and 1/4” socket to get ready to do this. The unit works pretty good aside from having to add fluid before each outing. I’ve read the stickies but just wanted to hear from others...

Hey Jerry You might be right; why fix if it ain’t broke!? I’m just getting a slight surge/hesitation at about 4300 rpm so my little brain goes right to timing since that’s about the only thing I haven’t checked. Thoughts? Sorry mods...

Idle should be at around 1200/neutral and 700-800 in gear. Did you do the link n sinc carb as the sticky goes through in the beginning of this forum??-very important! 1988 force Full throttle only 3500 rpm

Could be any number of things. Start with basics I.e. compression and spark. Eliminate one by one so there’s no cross confusion. Check all electrical connections; they do corrode and or break without being visible until you go diggin. Carbs Link n sinc ?? Anyone mess with timing. Fuel pump...

Carbs leaking fuel 1988 force 125hp

Yup. And I also read somewhere that if you’re using original or old floats; they tend to loose buoyancy therefore it was suggested to go 1/16 more but I haven’t verified that, although it completely makes sense.

Correct but the drop is to be set at 13/32 instead of 5/16

Carbs leaking fuel 1988 force 125hp

Adjustment on floats -13/32 if you didn’t know. I had an issue where I found tiny little paint chip in each one of the ports where the needles open and shut; the size of a grain of sand and very hard to see. Made fuel spurt out and flood out the motor. Take the carbs apart and blow compressed...

As guys are stating; the heat gun can tell a lot and in my case my thermo switch was ok but the wire to it was rubbing and making contact at idle after warm up; when everything was nice a warmed up. At wot it would fall away so no issues there so much. I’m not familiar with your model but sounds...
