Electric shift stringer omc stern drive

yes you can just swap over the drives. If they are both 84's they are not electric shifts , they are mechanical shifts. how are the ball gears on both of them ? anything below 50% wear should be replaced. So if one of the boats has better ball gears swap them over as well. and be very...

Looking for help with electric shift stinger

Honestly , assuming your upper unit is in decent shape, I would start looking for a new lower unit . Kenny will know more about it , but I am pretty sure to fix yours properly , you will need the new shaft and all of the very hard to find shimming tools . I see those lower units all of the time...

Partial Power... Part of the Time!

I got lazy one year and didn't file the points and gap , dwell , etc . It was a quick April trip and I figured " it was fine just back in September" the boat ran quite poorly and needless to say I havent done that again . My money is on the same situation for you.

    How to wire a tach

Does it have a light ? you should have 4 wires going to it , not 3. what are the wire colors for your pigtail ? either way it should be really straight forward wiring it up even without the pigtail. The 4 (3 with no light ) wires should be this below. Signal - negative side of coil 12v...

    1980 OMC 140hp electrical

I would imagine so. That's how my Ford 302 is set up. Full battery voltage to the points while cranking. Then with key in "run" position it is fed through a ballast resistor.

    Holley 4160 - Flooding Secondary

Mine is a 2bl , I've never had a 4bl holley , but that sure sounds like a power valve. ( does a 4 barrell have 2 power valves IDK ? ) Mine was doing exact thing last year , pig rich when I could actually get it to run - Power valve was toast . did you replace it during the rebuild ? Ive seen...

    Starting circuit

Yeah , there is a neutral safety switch in the controller to prevent starting while in gear. Yours appears to be toast. And Fyi , the prop will usually spin a little even in neutral when running it in the driveway . With the engine off , can you spin the prop by hand or is there resistance ?

    Auto AC stats and questions

well , I have some good news . I feel like a bit of an idiot though . The thermometer I was using for these readings is about 7-8 degrees off (10-12$ vent one from oreillys) I used the icewater test trick the other night to test its accuracy and yeah , not too accurate at all. So I got another...

    Auto AC stats and questions

So would the vacuum remove all liquids that were in the system ? getting rid of all of the flush ? yeah , I didnt have a scale but I have read about adding the cans using that method . They say to charge at about 80-85% of what the normal R12 charge would be.

    Auto AC stats and questions

Hi , thanks for the response . I used those ac manifold gauges with the 2 dials for low and high pressure. The low pressure side has a gauge with vacuum on it . It pegs out at 30 and that's where the pump and system maxed out at. And the vacuum pump was just a rental from O'Reilly. But yeah...

    Auto AC stats and questions

Hello All , Just this weekend I added a mostly new AC system to my 91 Ford Bronco. I read as many threads as I could and found alot of good info on the webs , just wanted to have some of you AC pros maybe look over my numbers and give me your thoughts. by the way , new denso comp , all new...

    Remove 190hp omc tilt motor

The motor you have in your hand is for later stringer models , what year is that boat ? #11 in this pic shows the bolt we are talking about ( there are 2 that you need to remove ) Feel the end of the motor , in the bilge area . They are 7/16 IIRC

    Remove 190hp omc tilt motor

2 long bolts at the end of that motor (engine side) The motor will try to fall apart as you remove it. its a real PITA

    NEW Transom seal BAD!!!

I "handled" an aftermarket seal a while back at a marine store going out of biz. ( I don't know if it was sierra , glm ,etc) The aftermarket one felt very different than oem , it felt more like a toy versus a tire type of rubber like an oem boot. But your point is valid , who knows when those...

    Stumped. OMC 235 HP I/O

Undo the 4 big bolts at the bottom of the upper. A big plastic puck type thing will then be accessible . The impeller and water pump shaft will right there . See Kenny's detailed post above , walks you through it

    Stumped. OMC 235 HP I/O

It could be any of the shafts as Scott mentioned. You are rooting for it to be the actual water pump shaft (bottom of upper unit) as that is an easy quick replacement. if any of the other shafts go , I believe you are reshimming components which will be no fun. get a new impeller and seal...
