Changing a Bimini cleat Ventura 19

I picture would help. There are likely nuts behind the fiberglass. Can you get behind it?

Reverse works at low RPM but ‘slips out’ with throttle

I would take the back over off the outdrive and confirm it is shifting fully into reverse when the control handle is moved to reverse. If it does fully move to reverse at the back of the drive, then you have an issue (worn cone clutch, etc) internal to the drive. If it isn't going fully into...

    Exhaust flappers

That's correct. Thru prop on single SX drives.

    Possible hydro lock?

I wouldn't start the motor without changing the oil first. Definitely pull the plugs now and run the starter to get as much water out of the cylinders as you can. If you have an electric fuel pump, pull the relay. Put a towel over the spark plug holes as it will spray out and make a mess...

    Exhaust flappers

Leave them off. Lots of successful boaters out there without them. Try to avoid slamming the throttle to idle when on plane and you'll be successful also.

    Spindle pitting or discoloration?

What's not clear in the pictures is the condition of the spindle where the rear seal rides. Is this smooth or is there pitting. If there's pitting, you should consider Speedi-sleeves to repair it. Went through this on my trailer.

    1995 OMC Overheating

The belt driven pump is the only raw water pump. It is mounted below the water line so it self primes. It changed from the drive mounted pump with the joint venture with Volvo in '94. You basically have a Volvo Cobra SX-M drive, with the pump on the engine. It doesn't matter what side the...

    Cranking engine by hand

Was there water in the cylinders? If so I would spray WD-40 into the cylinders and let it soak a bit and try to start it with the starter.

Centering boat on trailer (solo) without trailer guides? or DIY guide advice

If you don't have one already, you may want to consider a 2-speed winch to make it easier to pull the boat up. We have one for our 21' and my wife does all the trailer work and winching.

Cause for new exhaust bellows failure?

You should pull the exhaust elbow to confirm there is not excessive rust in the water passages. You should also get a IR temp gun and confirm both elbows are running around 120degF. I'll bet the port side is hotter. You may need new exhaust manifold and elbow on that side.

    Livewell pump issue

I would first confirm you're getting power to the pump, first by checking fuses, then power in and out of the switch. If you're getting power out of the switch, then I would pull the pump and see if there is debris jammed inside and bench test it. If that fails, replace the pump. They don't...

    Volvo Penta Cobra SX repair

I’ve had good luck with boatwrench.com for rebuilt drives. They are easier to reach than freshwater.

Cause for new exhaust bellows failure?

Sounds like you have an obstruction below the exhaust hose (not a bellows). Your boat may have flappers just below that hose that can fall into the Y-pipe and block exhaust flow. You may be able to fish it out from above, but you probably need to pull the drive to find and extract it from the...

    Acceptable trailering?

If it were me, I would verify the tongue weight at a minimum.

    Proper Castle Nut Installation

If the bearings are correct, I would install another washer or two.

    Cobra sx outdrive

That inspection camera should really help you find it. Another potential source is where the trim sensor wire comes through the transom. There's a rubber grommet on the wire that pushes into the transom from the outside and held in with a clip on the inside. At least that's the case with my...

    Water in spark plugs

Is there water in your oil? Did the oil level increase?

    Risers getting very hot

Is your motor cooled with a half closed system with a heat exchanger and anti-freeze in the block, or is it fully raw water cooled?

    Water in spark plugs

First priority is getting the water out of the oil and cylinders. Change the oil, then run the starter with the spark plugs out and the fuel pump relay pulled. Put a towel over the spark plug holes so water doesn't spray every where. You may want to bring each cylinder up to top dead center...
