Mercruiser 5.0 no power to fuel pump when ignition ON

Yeah all of this. I had a bugger of a time tracing down a partial failure of that 90a fuse. Ended up removing it for the same reasons given by bt. Near as I could tell that fuse only protects the alt from a high amp back feed. Starter circuit isn't fused but ignition is. First check is to make...

2003 5.0 MPI stubborn overheat issue

Not as familiar with your B3, but if you're still pulling your water through the drive you might be sucking air esp on plane. Might try a section of clear hose before the tstat and look for bubbles.

    MC-1 Drive Dog failure?

Maybe. Run through Achris' adjustment video on youtube (is that the one you looked at before?) and pay special attention to checking play in the shifter cables.

    Gauges recommendation

Hmm, looks like your gauge is reading 2v too high. Next step is to measure the voltage at the gauge. I'd probably check with the wiring on, and if the DVM is high I'd disconnect the leads from the voltmeter and remeasure. Lastly, I'd run a ground directly from the battery. Set the DVM to DC...

Cool day on the river yesterday

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Not only did the boat work all weekend, but while swimming off the boat a pod of at least 100 dolphins decided to join us. We escorted them back towards the Chesapeake for about an hour/6 miles before heading back. Really incredible sight and a pretty good way...

Installed shift cable, should prop spin free in reverse?

Move the end of the upper shift cable up in the slot. If an mc1 iirc the lower shift cable is adjusted to 5 ⅞" instead of 6"

    Gauges recommendation

Yes. Much more likely that you have bad electrical connections at the helm or elsewhere.

Difficult to shift into forward 1998 4.3 mercruiser alpha 1 gen 1

Does the lower cable move without resistance? Did you measure the play in the lower cable and the control box cable?

    Fuel question

Multi port injection...been around since the 80's at least. On the mercs EFI usually refers to a throttle body injection.

    Can't trim up ?

You have a trim sensor (that feeds your gauge) and a trim limit switch mounted on the drive. The limit switch is there to prevent the drive from raising past a certain point to prevent damage when underway. The trim switch wiring feeds through the limit switch, which opens when the drive is too...

Help! Coupler Wobble and Alignment Issue? 2005 4.3L MerCruiser Alpha 1..

Is it the same amount of effort to turn/pull out the alignment tool regardless of engine rotation? Witness marks on the alignment tool? Cheap ass me might be willing to go with Sierra, but that's not a job you want to redo or fail on you.

spark from coil but not at plugs..

Indicates that you have some electrical impulse but maybe not enough to make it to the plugs. Correct that it wouldn't spark at all with a bad sensor. Did anything get wet? Double check 12v at the coil. Also put a spark tester on the coil lead. If it's strong there then likely the problem is...
