Mercury 115 inline 6 bearing carrier seal issue

I wasn't asking about the little Roller Bearing. I was asking whether or not the other end of the Carrier had a Friction, or a Non-Friction Bearing. In the Early 80s Mercury changed from a Ball Bearing to a Bushing at that location. I thought it was a Possibility that you have a gearcase from an...

Lift 1970's 150 Mercury with no power!?

If I remember correctly, the old Trim System, the one shown in the Pic, only allows the Motor to be tilted up, and once Up, it was there to stay, until a whole bunch of things were done, which involved draining the Hydraulics.

Mercury 115 inline 6 bearing carrier seal issue

Marine Engine dot com shows the same Part #s The Seals are different, the Outer one supposedly has some means of fighting/resisting Fishing Lines. You mentioned that the Bearing Carrier, has been superseded. Are you saying you have the Newer Carrier, or the older one? If an older one, I wonder...

    Lower unit gear oil type

Got to the Dealer, Wally World, Amazon, even Evil bay, and get some Marine Gear Oil, and you won't have to worry about Viscosity. Some on here will Swear and Argue that it is just Auto Gear Oil. I say not. However, it is your motor and money, so you can put whatever you want in it...

On some of the Yamahas, but on the Merc and OMC 2 strokes, the Carbs are fully Closed, at Idle, and the Timing is used to set Idle speeds

    mercury blackmax 150 power/wot problems

Well, the OP had stated he had adjusted a "screw' to open the Carbs to get it to idle... A complete link and sync is gonna be needed.

    mercury blackmax 150 power/wot problems

While the the Idle Timing is what determines the Idle Speed, there is a Specific Screw on the Throttle Linkage that is used for that purpose. Messing with the other screws will likely Eff things up. Throttle Cable Length will also need Adjusting after the Correct Screw is adjusted.

    Is my trailer too short?

Being that the Bunks are unsupported after the Mount, really isn't much different than just hanging the Transom past the Bunks. On one of my Trailers I installed the Hardware EZ Loader used on a lot of their Trailers to support the Bunks. This Trailer had the Supports at the Transom as OEM, but...

The Pitch Values are picked by that particular Manufacturer. Some Props are even offered in One Inch changes. Props can be Tweaked, but results will vary by what is Done, and also by how Competent the Tweaker is. Taking off with the Engine at higher Heights does offer a big chance of...

    1939 Evinrude fuel question

Have fun with that engine, just make sure to put enough Oil in the Gas. 16:1 or 12:1. Hopefully there is some indication on the Fuel Tank Johnson Service Manual doesn't show a 1.8hp in 1939. Actually it doesn't show a 1.8hp in any Year Do you have a Model #?

Water test on 115 HO etec

You need to have the Rpm #s that are attained running at WOT, in the Configuration it will be running. It makes no sense to prop it for say, 6000(or what ever the Number you need), with the Motor lowered fully, then go screaming down the Lake with the Engine Jacked up. It also goes the other...

    85hp charger speed/prop/rpm concerns

Unless you are exceeding 45 most of the Time, Normal Duty is probably the Best Choice for your Boat, but you might have to even put it a 1/2" below the Hull.

1969 85hp starflite, low power and cutting in and out

Well, as mentioned, Heat can reck Havok on Electronics, regardless of Vintage. It looks like it is mounted on a Heatsink... Is there supposed to be a Thermal Paste between the 2? If you have ruled out all the other Components as being the Problem, and all Connections are Electrically Secure...
