What is this part called on Force 125

Well these engine do have a Maximum Spark Advance, or else bad things happen, just like on Car/Truck engine, only the advance is controlled by the Throttle Control. The Carbs are fully closed at Idle, and open late in the Timing Advance, in a lot of cases not till after Maximum Advance has...

    1979 Johnson 6hp Prop slip

The rubber hub is actually there to protect the expensive parts of the Drivetrain(Gears/Clutch Dog, etc) during Shifts, by providing a bit of Cushioning. I guess it offers a bit of protection, but an impact hard enough to cause it to slip, will likely be hard enough to do Damage to the Blade...

    1979 Johnson 6hp Prop slip

The Hub would be Metal, with a Rubber Insert between it and the Prop. Here are the props that would fit the 6hp. Also I included the Props for the 9.5 Some of the Props shown are Plastic. I can't recall if they had Rubber Hubs or were Sacrificial

    1979 Johnson 6hp Prop slip

Perhaps the engine is mounted too high and the Prop is ventilating You can check to see if the Rubber Hub is slipping, by marking the Hub and the Prop, running it, and then checking if the two are still Aligned.

What is this part called on Force 125

Mercury Part# F499035 That Screw/Rod that is goes on, has Right and Left Hand threads, no wonder it lists for almost $50. You need to pay attention on how you install it, and will need to Check, and reset the max Spark Advance, and also do a complete Link and Sync

    spin-on gas filter

A large Water Separator Filter will not create a Pressure Drop that would hinder the Fuel Pump from operating. Those small inline Filters are more restrictive, than a large Spin-on

1986 90hp johnson primer bulb collapsing..hear me out

If you have a 4 Stroke or a 2 Stroke where oil is in a Separate Tank, as the main Propulsion, then the Kicker should be a 4 stroke, that will insure the Kicker will have access to enough fuel to make it back, as a 2 Stroke Kicker will need Premix Gas, and the main fuel supply for the...

1986 90hp johnson primer bulb collapsing..hear me out

I like the idea of Premixing the Gas, as I know the engine is getting the Oil it needs, until I forget to...

Help! I need to know what I got!!! Lol

I doubt it was a Kit. Thousands of small boat builders pop up everywhere, and California was/is no exception. Unfortunately most go out of business in a few years, and a lot don't leave much History behind

1990 V4 runs on two cylinders at low RPMs

Those small Hoses that attach to Fittings on the Block are likely part of the Oil Recirculation System, Some of Fittings are Check Valves Any hose coming off the Air Silencer would be a Drain, for any fuel that spills out of the Carbs, when the engine is tilted up. Also see if all the carbs...

    In-boat camshaft replacement - 7.4 Mercruiser

Rectangular Port Gaskets on an Oval Port Head. Happens a lot, as a lot of people don't know that there were the Two Types. For use below 5000 the Smaller Ports are Better. This reinforces my Idea that Mercury planned on those engines likely being entered in Racing Events that required Stock...

1958 Johnson 35 hp fuel pump rebuild

Without those parts it certainly won't pump. It is a simple device, and goes together quite easily, here is a Cutaway from an actual OMC service manual from the late 50s. Even the Service Manual doesn't have any detailed instructions on Disassembly-Reassembly. There is error; At the bottom...
