    FYI....I have a 16' aluminum with a 2.2 hp kicker motor and just lock it forward, using the main ( 40hp) to steer. Top speed is 5.0 mph (gps), with big motor up. 5.6 mph! Not that much to worry about.

    When you turn the wheel is rhe motor moving?? If yes, the wander might be the issue. If motor does not turn immediately with the wheel rhen you have a steering problem.

    Cleaning a carb is not the same as rebuilding a carb. When I had my Johnson and decided not to use the vro, system, I had to block something off and plug a hose. Don't remember exactly what all I did, but I do remember blocking off and plugging things.

    Ask the owner before you drive there. Be prepared to negotiate if it is. Most older alum boats do leak a little, rivets come loose and seams can leak a little, I would alway have a bilge pump on board, on any boat.. Are you getting an in water test ride ??
