What is different about newer primer bulbs?

Have been doing some searching on this gray fuel hose that seems to be causing issues. Shop carefully !!! It apoears rhe stuff on Amazon is some of the cheap stuff that lacks certain approvals for standards and is actually more expensive than what seems to be the better hose that meets all the...

What is different about newer primer bulbs?

Hmmmm....my gray hose is a year and a half old, no sign of hardening and there is NO liner inside. The hose was much longer than needed so I cut in several places when I replaced the inline filter. No liner at all !! It states ethenol approved, EPA and CG approved in the advertising...

    Sea king 64gg-9005

You can use modern TCW3 two cycle oil, far better than what was availiable back then. The original mix was probably 24-1, I have read where some folks use a 32-1 mix with the better/ modern oil....cant say for sure, so mabey an old motor rebuilder will chime in here...

Might this work as a backup?

On my boats, I use a prop that gives me max rpm with the lighest load I will ever run. My motor max is 5500 so with just me and basic gear I can get about 5650 rpm, but I never leave it pegged at that speed, with two on board I am at my 5500 and with three about 5400. This way it doesn't bog...

Might this work as a backup?

Not from the hub...but from the tip of the prop blade to the cav plate above it !! If there is an anode fin under, thats needs cleared as well.

Blogs plug housing loose and turns

Might this work as a backup?

If you have the clearance to change the diameter, diameter usually effects half what the pitch effects. In other words, an inch of pitch changes rpm about 200 rpm....one inch on the diameter changes rpm about 100 rpm. So....if you have enough clearance another 1/4" in dia will only slow your...

    Engine support while towing.

According to Mercury on both my previous I/O and my current 92 classic , the factory claims the TT is more than adequate for trailering if the motor/ outdrive does not have to be raised all the way up to a trailering position for clearance. I have gone to great lengths/ extremes to get both the...

1987 Four Winns surprise floor rot

Unfortunately, not at all unusual for an old glass boat !! Do it all and do it right or you will be doing it again before long. Once it starts, it spreads quickly.

    Engine support while towing.

While you boat is underway at speed, the power trim is under far more strain than when it is just holding your motor while traveling down the road. If you have power TT, use it...thats what it is there for.

    How Filters are Made

The cut outs we made years back just showed the insides of the filters and what materials were used. Sad to say on more than one big brand name filter the pressure relief was a piece of waxed cardboard about as heavy as the back of a writing pad... some of the no name filters at least used a...

    1988 Bayliner Restore or Replace

Buy an aluminum boat, you won't have the rotten wood issues, and if there s...much easier to fix!! They have better resale, and generally sell quick. Only owned one glass boat in my 60 years of boat ownership, never again. Alum gives a better return on your money.

    What type fuel hose?

That is what the hose feels like...but there is no liner ( inside hose) as most talk about when reviewing the gray hose. Just trying to figu4re if mine is a new (improved) version.. even trimmed it back for fresh ends when I replaced the in line fiter, previous owner had a 5/16" filter on...

FACTORY PARTS..... a bit of a rant....

    Which towing position

I wouldn't go any higher than needed, but...no matter where you position it, it needs held in position so it can't bounce up and down !!
