I changed my lower end your oil on my Evinrude 18 hp guy at AutoZone said that should work??? making sure

While it wouldn't be my first Choice, you might be able to use it, in a low HP app like an 18hp. The Limited Slip Additive is of no Concern. As the Gears in the Lower Unit, are Bevel or Spiral Bevel and not Hypoid, a GL-5 Oil is certainly overkill, but can't hurt.

Steering issues on a SeaStar steering

Even the Trim Angle of the Engine/Outdrive will affect the Steering. With Right Hand Rotation Props, a Pull to Port usually means Trimmed to far out

    Tune Up Specs 1973 Johnson 50HP 50ESL73R

Somewhat. However, if the current WOT Rpm is way off, then once the motor is closer to the WOT range, it will be easier to tell how far off you are. General rule of thumb, is 200 rpm for every inch of pitch, but that is assuming that the engine is currently in or close to the WOT Range

Chrysler 55 one cylinder occasionally fires

Perhaps the Issue is one Cylinder running Lean, and miss. A leaky Crankshaft Seal can cause the upper Cylinder to do that, as well as provide an Oil Bath

    Adding ballast to the bow?

Those Drains would have been fine if someone hadn't butchered the Well to run Cable/Hoses through the Bottom of it, and likely cut a Access Hole in the Bottom as well, and what was put in the Hole is likely no longer sealing. Cables and Hoses needed to be Routed through much higher, near the top...

Chrysler 55 one cylinder occasionally fires

Looking at the pics and images, I would be checking the Upper Bearing Seals, as I see what looks like a dusty oily mess coming from that area

    Adding ballast to the bow?

I would be paying attention to the Transom, as the one picture shows several Gelcoat Cracks at and around the Plugs you put in, Those Plugs should not put any stress on the Transom.

    Tune Up Specs 1973 Johnson 50HP 50ESL73R

15" was what was shipped with the Motor, as a 14-15ft boat was likely what a 50hp would be mounted on. I suspect you are going to need something in the 9" - 11" range

I think that is several Inches too much Pitch

    1991 mercury sounding rough? fixes?

That is a Drain for the Midsection, which fills with water after it is done cooling the Engine, and being that the midsection is about 20 inches tall, it develops its own head of Pressure at the Drains. For running on 2 of the 4 Cylinders, it sounds pretty good, and very smooth.

    Adding ballast to the bow?

Any Idea as to what the Yrs of the 2 engines were-are? In the early 80s the 200 and the 150 were pretty much the same Weight. Then in the Mid 80s through the 90s some changes were made and unless it is known which motors are involved... Another reason is that there a bunch of water in other...

    Adding ballast to the bow?

How many lbs heavier is the 200 over the 150? Perhaps the Deck Drains should be dumping overboard, not into the Bilge

Gas and fuel mix recommendations for JW-10

I would go with 16:1 on that Motor, not one Anti Friction Bearing in the Powerhead, it Needs all that Oil to stay alive

    Tune Up Specs 1973 Johnson 50HP 50ESL73R

A Factory Manual is the Way to go. Seloc and most 3rd Party Service Manuals are really only good for the Outhouse, and not for reading even. You can try Ken Cook for a Manual, and there are some genuine Manuals on Evil-Bay Some of the Specs are Loop Charged 50hp at 5500rpm WOT range 5000-6000...

1980 StarCraft 181 holiday power upgrades

You actually have Power Trim? It would be a separate Switch from the Power Tilt Switch. What is you engine's WOT Rpm range? What Rpm are you getting at WOT? I doubt you are going to find a 4 blade Prop for that I/O. Besides 4 blades are slower than 3. I suspect that you will get its best...
