Seeking advice on seemingly large hull/structural repair! Help please! 1979 Marquis Catalina.

You are pretty much going to split the Cap from the Hull, rip out the enter Floor, which looks Rotted, only then you will see that you will likely have to replace every Stringer. At this point the Transom is also probably in need of some TLC. 6 gallons of Epoxy will not go very far. Looking the...

    Check valve 4 hp

Perhaps in this case they are trying to get oil to the Wrist/Piston Pin, or the skirt of the Piston, not the Bearing.

    Check valve 4 hp

On a 2 stroke, fuel and oil can collect in the Crankcase leading to the engine loading up and running Rich. Yrs ago the Fuel was expelled out of the Crankcase thru a Checkvalve and dumped into the Exhaust Housing. However many people frowned on that. So in response, Outboard makers rerouted the...

    Got electrocuted when touching cylinder?

I see you learned about the Shocking Truth of Electricity. The Voltages going to the Plugs is very high, and the Only Thing Electricity wants to do, is complete the Circuit, and It doesn't care How or what Path it takes to do so. All it takes is a crack in the Wire Insulation, or a bit of Damp...

    1991 mercury 115hp 2 stroke gauges?

Well the Gauge goes in the Dash The location on the Water Jacket for the Tube, or in some cases, Transducer, vaires. On older Mercury Inlines, there was a threaded Hole for the Fitting on the Water Jacket Cover between the Spark Plugs, and plastic Tube was fed up to the Dash and fitted to the...

    Boat is slow

As I said before, your engine has a WOT range of 5000-5500 rpm. If all you are getting is 4250, and the engine is running properly, then you are risking serious engine Damage, as in Melted Pistons. A lower pitch will bring the Rpms up to where the motor is making its rated Power, and you will...

    Prop

Can you post a Picture of the Quicksilver Prop? I ran that number through Google and the only Image of a Prop was of an OMC Prop on Evil Bay. You say the quicksilver looks all metal. Is there a Thrust Washer on the front of the hub? If you can pop it off, you can determine real fast if uses a...

    1991 mercury 115hp 2 stroke gauges?

Depends on where the Transducer/Gauge Pipe, is located. Just like the Tel-Tale, might not mean the water is getting to where it needs to be.

    Lower unit oil

If a Bearing is in the Process of self Destructing, the Oil will be loaded with pieces of that destruction, and is likely unusable. Every Bearing in that Axle Housing should be replaced, cause when one goes, it takes others with it, maybe not right away but shortly after. I hate Differentials...

    1990 Johnson 90HP 2 Stroke Bogging - Help!

I will assume you mean the Starboard Cylinders when you say "Right". Since they are fed from 2 different Carbs, it can't be blamed on a common to both, Carb. And since each carb does feed the Cylinder on the Port Side, 2 cylinders do share a Float Bowl/Fuel Level. You say the Port side and...

200 hrs? Did you have it rebuilt, if so, what oil was used during the Break-in and what procedure did you do to break the engine in?

    Ford 302 spark plug read

How many hours on this Engine? To properly read the Plugs, to see if the Mix at WOT is fine, they would need to be read on the water, right after a WOT run, before any lower speed running can contaminate the Insulator. What plugs are your running and where on the Heat Chart are they located?

1984 Johnson 35hp tell tale at idle

To get to the Upper Grommet, the powerhead has to come off. Attached to it will be the Exhaust Tube(9) where the Grommet(115)is located, in the pics, you are looking at the Guide Tube(114) I would attach a water supply to the Water Tube and observe for Leakage from the Guide Tube Area. Water...
