    Accurate Horsepower Figures

Every marine dyno I have seen really can't provide a HP number only a Pressure Reading, which can't really be charted or plotted as a graph. Maybe some New ones run through a Computer can

    Accurate Horsepower Figures

Well the 2bbl for a 5 liter is likely not to get the best power out of a 5.7, plus the Relationship between the Throttle Plate and the Off-Idle Transfer Slot was located for the expected Air Flow of a 5 liter, rather than a 5.7. The larger engine will result in result in greater Pressure...

I need help with a 58 super thunderbolt iekhaefer!

As I posted in Post #11 The Gas-Oil ratio was 20:1 back in the Day, but Mercs from that era are all anti-friction bearing design, can can use TCW-3 at 50:1, but some will argue to use 24:1 There is only 1 Throttle Lever, the other is, as you say, the Shift Lever. That is a Magneto...

Mercury did use an Insulator Blanket inside the Cowl Wrap on a lot of motors. All the ones I ever saw were inside a Plastic Envelope. Of course over time, Plastic degrades and the material inside will come out. Any Pics?

Johnson 50 hp. How to determine model and year

It is 2004 or newer. Can any numbers be read off the Sticker that says MOD No.? That number on the Disk is likely the Serial #. You could contact Bombardier and run it past them Perhaps someone can recognize the Cowl Decal... Then you will have an Idea what year the Cowl is.

Johnson 140 Sputters at Full Throttle

Seems awfully slow at Accelerating, or are you just slowing pushing the lever? What are the Compression Numbers? Does it has a Spark strong enough to jump a 3/8" gap at ally Cylinders? Are all the Carbs getting Fuel and are Clean Is the Timing set to spec, and the Carbs synced to each other and...

I need help with a 58 super thunderbolt iekhaefer!

They use 4 small Cylinders, not difficult to Rope Start. Even the 6s were easy to pull start. I used to rope start my 84 115(it had bigger Pistons and a longer Stroke) all the time cause I was too cheap to buy a new Battery. On a cold engine it took only 2 or 3 pulls to get it running.
