There is a company in Toledo Ohio called " Toledo Spring" that specializes in replacement springs. In past years I have taken pics and measurements and sent them to the company and they make up spring sets based on my dimensions and weight loads. You might look them up, have been great folks...

    Battery discharge. ...normal?

Some years back my company did work for a battery manufacturer, we were able to get some insite on 12 volt batteries. What I have been told by these battery folks is a typical starting battery should never drop below 12 volts or permanent damage ( not able to fully recover) will be done. Under...

    Lower unit stripped drain plug

Have this a few times....get a shoulder head bolt with a bigger thread, then turn/ grind the head dia to match the existing head dia. Retap the thread to the new size, make a new gasket or find a fiber washer, flush chips from the retap in lower unit. Screw in your new plug.. being a toolmaker...

Whats your system for dockside mooring covers

Your only real secure/ water proof cover is to get one custom made. Have the maker understand how your boat is moored and what kind of acess you will have while it is moored!! No way an over the counter cover will be waterproof and have an easy way to put it on, unless you buy a cover and...

    Johnson 9R-73B fuel leak

Top pin in pic is the latch pin to hold in place, bottom is fuel inlet, something in your pic doesnt look right.....Your fuel line plug is a cheapie, sorry but that is what many fuel lines come with nowadays. I always prefered the older cast metal ones which were rebuildable.

    Lowe 1448 corrosion

Another thing you might consider is a bead blaster if you have acess to one. Much easier than sanding, then a primer coat then a couple finnish coats...your boat will look like new. !!

Partially damaged spark plug hole on 115 optimax

If only the first few threads are damaged, another option is to remove the head and run the tap/ thread chaser from the inside out. This will keep all the threads in alignment while correcting the damage. When you come in from the outside, you MUST have the thread chaser in perfect alignment...

    Fuel Tank - Replace?

The nice part about these poly tanks is there are no rust worries !! As long as there are no worn spots, cuts or any other damage to the outside, why bother....being a 94, you are well past the early days when plastic tanks first came out and they had seams that could leak and other issues...
