    To get a motor and batteries big enough to do what you want, your looking at well over a grand, for that money you could buy a small gas motor and stow it in the corner out of the way until needed...the gas will give far better performance when needed and takes very little maintenence.

    Rough up the surface and clean it good with alcohol. Get a tube of " goop" cover the cracked area with multiple layers of goop, allowing 12 hours between layers. Repaired my Sportyak years back with this stuff, still holds to this day. My crack was completely thru, never leaked after patching.

    Besides adding grease, when have you actually pulled the bearings, checked them and hand packed before reinstalling?? Both outter and inner!! This should be done every 3 years even with hub grease ports!! You might have some bearings that need replaced....

    Just sold my 1983 Islander with original 3.0 140 hp. Ran excellent, idle all day at 600 rpm without stalling. Compression was 148-152 across al 4 cylinders. Didnt use any oil and very easy on fuel. My 22' Islander would do 34 mph with two adults and fishing gear.....no where near end of life...

    When you cover the bunks leave the bottom side open to allow the water to get out. When I did mine, I just used regular ole pine 2x4 and they are over 5 yrs old and still going strong !!
