A picture of the Cowl can help a lot in determining its Yr, sometimes the engine is the same year too

    right prop

The Timing should not need Setting or even Checking. OMC used to put a bit of Glue/Adhesive on the Adjusting Points just to discourage People from messing with them, as most Tinkerers have no clue as to what they are Changing, and then can't remember how far they changed it, making it difficult...

Do you guys live in Warm/Hot areas? Batteries are more likely to fail without Warning, in Hot Weather, than in Cold Weather.

    determining trailer hitch height

Does the Trailer have Brakes? Does the Trailer have more than one Axle? If the Answer is no, to those questions. then an inch, inch and a half off level isn't critical If the Trailer is a Single Axle with brakes, then the Tongue should be level If the Trailer has 2 or more Axles, then then the...

    determining trailer hitch height

Welcome to iboats The A frames are usually on the same Plane as the Tongue Put a bubble stick on one of the Trailer frames and see if it level, of course the Trailer and Tow Vehicle have to be on Level Ground. You can't just level the Trailer, measure the Coupler Height, and then measure the...

    Mercury 115 2+2

It should fit. However, I am not a 4 or 5 blade fan, 3 is the Maximum number of Blades I would ever look at. And all the boats I or my Family have ever owned had 3 blade Props, except for the 5 1/2 which had a 2 blade. And the 25hp, 35hp, 40hp, 90hp, 115hp, 150hp, and current 260 I/O all pulled...

Need a New battery ,got more for less at Wallyworld....I think

The Battery that came in my boat in 2002, was an Interstate M24, Starting Battery, never let me down. In 2017, 15 yrs later, I took it down to the local Interstate Battery Distributor, and asked them to check it out. They looked at me like I was on some serious Meth, or Cocaine when they checked...

    Prop sizes and pitch

4.25" gearcases were used on mid power(a long and torturous list to try and write out) OMC outboards and Stern Drives, and on Mercury Older Inline >60cubic inch 4 Cylinder and inline 6s, and some of the older smaller I/Os The 4.75 Gear cases came out on the Larger Merc I/Os back in the 60s, and...

    Upgrading Gen 5 VP V8-300 (300HP) to a V8-350 (350 HP)

To get more HP, either Rpms and/or, Volumetric Efficiency has to increase, in most cases, both. There might be a Timing change, but these engines can only handle so much advance before they start Detonating. If more fuel is added, then the Injectors may be different. It is so much easier to get...

    right prop

Any damage to any of the Blades on the 20". There shouldn't be that big of change between 4" pitch. I could accept a 1000 rpm difference, but not 2000

Those motors don't take Kindly to being run above 5800. 10" Pitch? That would be for pushing something like a Tugboat Do what racer said.

    Upgrading Gen 5 VP V8-300 (300HP) to a V8-350 (350 HP)

Have you checked all the parts in the Valve Train? Are the Heads the same? What about Induction System? Do the 2 engines have the same WOT Rpm range?

Help please! 1988 Johnson outboard lack of power and stalls.

The Piston will be at TDC for several Degrees of Crankshaft Rotation. Many engines use a specific Distance from TDC to determine/calibrate the Timing Pointer. It would be easier just examine the Key once the Flywheel Nut is removed, for any shear

Help please! 1988 Johnson outboard lack of power and stalls.

VRO Pumps are not Bad News, they are actually quite Reliable. You rebuilt the Carbs? What parts did you change, and what adjustments did you do inside the Carbs? Also, when you put the Carbs back on the Engine, did you make sure both carbs were fully closed at idle, and that you checked the Sync...

    Ficht 150 stops

Welcome to iboats A 2002 FICHT would have a water cooled Engine Control Module. How old is the Water Pump Impeller? Does it have Spark after it dies? Those engines usually require being hooked to a computer to do much diagnosis.

    In dash GPS speedo?

Don't think the a GPS Speedo is Accurate all the Time. Oh, it will be correct if you want to know how fast you are moving across the bottom of the Lake/River, but will be inaccurate as to the speed on the water, if there is any Current in that Lake/River
