    On a Magneto the Spark isn't as strong as with the newer breakerless ignitions. If the spark can jump a 1/4", better yet 5/16", it is doing a good job

    When the Prop Nut is Properly Torqued, the Prop part of the Hub is in contact with the Thrust Washer, so when the Rubber Hub slips, there is going to be friction and in this case a fair bit of wear. The Thrust washer is usually Bronze/Brass or Stainless Steel, all harder than the Aluminium

    The 'M" is an OMC Trademark. The coils may have already been replaced, doesn't mean they haven failed. But now you have access and can meter them for Shorts/Opens, as well as inspect the Points. Coils that fail when Hot, aren't all that healthy when cold either. But heat them up with a Hair...

    The 35 is indeed a Crank rated motor, and the 30 is a Prop rated motor. There is a 99.99% chance that they produce the same power. Even if there was a 5hp difference, that would be about 1mph less
