Concerned about Hull Config / Cramped Engine Bay

If it looks difficult to access the engine, it will become worse than you imagined, when you do have to service it, or things like the Steering Linkage. All the stuff you can't easily reach, including the engine was likely installed before the Cap was attached to the Hull... Myself, I wouldn't...

Can You Make Up For Different Gear Ratio With a Different Pitch Prop?

As Scott06 said, it is a yes and no answer. While dropping pitch enough will bring up the Rpms, it does result in a loss of Efficiency. There are reasons that the Engine Manufacturers use different Ratios on different Engines, one of which is to reduce the number of Prop designs/pitches they...

Does VP go nuts on revisons and models vs. Mercrusier?

I've a had a VP for 20 yrs, and it has never given me a Problem. I like the Cone Clutch, as it doesn't wear like a Clutch Dog does. Raw Water Pump is inside the boat, and doesn't require the outdrive to come apart or off, to replace

    Johnson 112 vs 90 questions..

I will assume that the 90spl is a Crossflow, as is the 112. Both are 99.6 cubic inch Blocks, and there is supposed to be significant differences in the Porting between the two engines, The 90 makes its best power, around 4900 rpm, propping it to rev higher actually reduces its HP. Now the 112...

how to break in a rebuilt 60 hp Merc 2 stroke ?

There are a lot of Unscrupulous People unloading things, after they wreck them. I have weeded out a few, by saying I would want the Motor checked by a Shop, of my choice, and that I was willing to pay for that. Any seller who baulked at that idea, saw me leaving real quick.

    What mix

And dumping the Oil into a Full tank, ends up will all the Oil at the Bottom, so initially the mix is very heavy with Oil, then a the Tank empties, it leans out to where there is not enough Oil. Rocking the tank does F all when it comes to mixing the oil with the Gas. Same goes for hauling it...

Running 5.7 without choke on quadrajet?

GM autochokes were always, at least the ones on my Buicks, Olds, and Cadillacs, reliable. The Old Man, had a Dodge, and it would start fine when cold, and would drive away, but as you came to the first Stop Sign, it would stall, and he could grind on the Starter all Day, foot to the Floor, and...

how to break in a rebuilt 60 hp Merc 2 stroke ?

It was never Oil Injected, just an Oil Mixing system that added Oil to the Fuel before it got to the Carbs. This system was pretty good.
