    I can’t say for sure but my guess is you will need the extra height of the original to get the recoils components on and still catch enough threads on the crank. Just a thought.

    Agreed on checking with another gauge to confirm these numbers. Do you plan on pulling the heads to check the diverters. I’m sure you will find even more crud there as well. Best

    Roll on truck bed liner. It’s tough stuff and UV resistance is great.

    A little less compound would be helpful imo. Also I once saw a guy coat the crank with a marker and rotated the flywheel on the shaft to check for wear points. I have never done it personally but it looked like it was a good way to check the fit.

    I used a product called SeaCast to rebuild a transom once. Its a great product. My transom was so rotten I didn’t even have to cut the glass on the inside or out. I was able to dig out all the rot it was so far gone. It is very important to get ever last chunk of wood out if you go this route.

    Agreed. That’s all I did on an 02 40hp. I charge the battery at the start of summer and keep it topped off with a solar charger. It lasts all season with not problems.

    Sounds like an interesting and kool job. I still have a 1990 Toyota 4Runner that has a perfect frame and still has stickers on it in some places. Only one spec of rust on the body and it won’t be there much longer. I have also had an 05 Tocoma and an 06 Tundra. Both were in perfect condition...

    I’m not sure why you would need a tilt pin if you have tilt assist. If you need to change your pitch you can move the bottom pin of the tilt assist cylinder to the appropriate whole.

    I was going to suggest this. Well done. For those that don’t have access to a 3d printer check with your local high school. They sometimes find stuff like this as an interesting project for the class room.

    Sorry but I have to ask. It sounds like your lining up right but just to be sure you are lining it up so the bolt goes through the detent in the shift rod correct? And is the top lined up correctly as well?

    Agreed just didn’t want to be the one to say it. I would think to weight will throw things off balance. I have never had a jon boat so don’t know for sure. Maybe 2 or 3 hp would be fine. Best
