    Quit My Job . . .

I did the same thing just yesterday. The only problem is I gave them a 10 month notice so who knows how this will really end. I have been at this job for 32 years and it’s time for a change. Wood working is my true passion and with a little luck will be my new gig.

    98 evinrude DI 90hp

First of all Thank You For Your Service. As for the motor do yourself a favor and unload it. I know several people that have spent loads of money on repairs and still were left stranded and looking for a tow back to the ramp just about every time they went out. There are a few lucky people out...

    Johnson 20 HP. Ignition Problem

They have more like a flare to them rather a barb. The WD-40 will make them slippery and they will push right out.

    Loss of power, won't plane

There are all things that are best if used and not compromised with lower quality products if you don’t want to do it again. There are other ways around it but it will be a crap shoot. I have always used a wooden cradle and socket for pins with no problems. Best

Weird situation, looking for advice/how to repair

Well that’s unfortunate but it doesn’t sound like the end of the world. I’m thinking with some TLC it would be salvageable.

Advice to remove the damage keyway

Agreed work the ends one side then the other until it starts to pop up on one end. It’s a half moon in the crank so it will work it self out in theory. Best

I replaced one of those levers many years ago and it wasn’t cheap. I want to say it was around 60 or 70 bucks I had the part number written down on the wall and it’s still there. 0431962 was the number back in the day give a look and see what you find

    1989 Johnson 50hp won’t trim down

If you can grab the end of the cable where the lever is broken with a pair of pliers on pull on it it should lower.

Weird situation, looking for advice/how to repair

Agreed on the broken magnets in the starter. If one is cracked it will try to spin but will lack any power.

Oil Leaking from Bottom Unit Joint

Agreed with above but if it’s going to bother you do a pressure test for pice of mind.

IMO a good zinc primer on the lower unit is a good idea.

One for the collection 6hp Johnson

Best of luck if you decide to use it. I know some that have tried and things didn’t go well. As mentioned melted gaskets, wrong jets, non matching needles and the list goes on. Find an OEM kit if you can or Sierra is the next best thing.

One for the collection 6hp Johnson

I picked up an 02 Johnson 40 commercial about 10 years ago for $600. It had roughly 20 hr on it and was like new. The guy I got it from was a shellfish warden and the city wanted him using a 4 stroke on the pond and bought one for him so he put the 2 stoke in garage and that’s where sat until I...
