    Replacement long block

Gotcha… thank you both! I’ll be getting a new marine long block. The old block is nothing more than a heavy anchor. I did remove the alternator as… and all mounting brackets.

    Cleaning aluminum gas tank

Love this forum. Great information from knowledgeable boaters. Looking for advise on the best way to clean the inside of an aluminum gas tank. I’ll be removing the tank from a 1990 Bayliner 2652. Once removed I’ll pressure test and if it passes I’d like to clean the inside. What’s the best way...

    Pressure test 1990 Alph1 Gen1

Thanks both! I figured soapy water was in order.. no sign of leaking before seals were done. I figured with the age and not knowing what had been serviced I figured I’d do them. Boat sat for 2 years before i purchased. As I removed things off the boat I rebuilt everthing… EXCEPT THE SEAL...

    Bearing carrier stuck

Chill tech, A Chris is spot on(as usual). I pulled mine last year. You gotta hit it hard with the heat. It took me 2 weeks. Heat, penetrating oil, and hard on the puller. Repeat and repeat. A good tapping with a plastic hammer. I was replacing the carrier so I wasn’t concerned about damaging...

    Transom replacement on I/O

I agree with Todd hunter….. looks like you’re gonna need to replace the entire section. Have you taken core samples? Looks pretty nasty. Start at the drain plug and work your way up every 4 inches or so. Use 1/4 drill bit from the inside. Don’t go through the outside glass. My guess is you’re...

    1989 wellcraft 230 coastal I/O fiberglassing

I believe should finish the transom first. all rebuilds I’ve seen have the transom completed and then lay up the stringers to the transom. Structural integrity for the transom assembly is priority.
