    69 25hp johnson

I have no personal experience with a prop surround but it seams if you were concerned you would need one then a little loss of performance would be better than damaging your prop or even worse the lower unit. Best

    1984 Evinrude 25hp mounting

I was just wondering you had done a lot of filing and possibly changed the shape. Filing out small nicks is common but to do a proper job if it’s bent it should be done at a prop shop. It’s hard to tell from the photos but it looked like the leading edges were bent up which would cause it to...

    1984 Evinrude 25hp mounting

Did you do any filing to that prop? The leading edges look like they have been shaped somewhat. In for very first post the prop doesn’t look like it was in great shape to start with. You could be getting some cavitation.

60HP 1989 Johnson outboard low compression

You can use a zip tie around the shaft on your hone to use as a depth guide if your worried about bottoming out. If you do bottom out to hard it can chip the stones so be gentle. Take full length smooth strokes as evenly as possible. Use plenty of oil for lubricant and try to remove the scoring...

60HP 1989 Johnson outboard low compression

My thoughts as well. I was called out for a fire alarm and couldn’t finish. The rod caps are fractured so they can go back on the same rod only one way. This is totally normal if that is in fact what you were looking at. Best

Just pull or pry the impeller up the shaft.

Yes you can tap on the puller bolt and it does help. It sounds like you know not to bang and the flywheel it’s self. I can’t say I have never tapped on a flywheel but it was just light taps around the shaft only. You will get it off. Best

Sounds like you have the right puller. If you use the 3 holes on the top of the flywheel you will be fine. It’s not a good idea to pull from the perimeter of the flywheel. In my opinion grade 8 is not necessary.

1991 15 HP Evinrude pull start model

The function of the knob it to lock to throttle for trolling speeds so you don’t have to hold the throttle all the time. If you don’t need it for trolling there is no need to fix it.

    1984 Evinrude 25hp mounting

Personally I would go with the same plane as your hull. You can always adjust up or down if you feel you need to. The 4” set back shouldn’t have any effect on the height. I feel like you made a great decision by doing this. Now you don’t have to wonder what’s going to happen. Best
