    175 2 stroke wont rev past 2k

Are you getting a Spark that can jump a 3/8" gap on all cylinders? When were the carbs rebuilt the previous Season, beginning, halfway thru, during winterizing? Are all the carbs delivering Fuel thru the Main Circuit? You say you rerouted lines, which lines? The fuel Lines, or were you messing...

Caught another boats anchor, whos fault?

Similar to the Dock Fisherman who casts his line in front of a Boat, then screams and yells when it gets cut. One time, I went back and said I wanted his Name, so I could send him the bill for the cost of replacing the Prop Shaft Seal. What I found the next day. Seal wasn't cut though

    Mercury Switch

The mercury switch you are likely referring to, is to kill the Ignition when the Gearcase lifts up out of the water when an Impact occurs with an underwater object

    Anyone Seen these?

I gave him a Thumbs up, because what he said was Accurate and True. As for Comparing. How about against Conventional Props, of both the Same Pitch, but also against ones that provide the Best Performance, Best Efficiency for a given setup, instead of testing against Mismatched Props

    RPM at cranking speed

It doesn't have to spin very fast, as even engines larger that that can be rope started. I used to rope start my 84 115 inline 6, as I was too cheap to replace the Battery, and it was an ADI system

    Anyone Seen these?

I never bashed the Prop. I bashed the Website that is just being a Informercial for it, and in over 2 yrs, has never been able to do an Apples to Apples Comparison of, or a credible Review of the Prop, instead just posts what the Maker, who is an Advertiser, tells them

Merc Outboard - 2 Year Old Engine Failure, 5 Year Extended Warranty Denied

"The dealer found water on the bottom spark plug." Is there any Mention of water pouring out when Plug was removed? The cylinder should have been full at the point where the Piston stopped, and would have poured out as the plug was removed. A droplet or two on the plug is not conclusive proof of...

    Now what

There is a Rule of Thumb for recovered motors, Fresh Water, unless there is dirt and silt under the cowl, get it running within an hour or two, or expect to take it apart. If there is Silt, or it was Salt Water, the engine has to come apart for a proper cleaning. Waiting two days after recovery...

Spark plugs for older Merc (80s)?

Welcome to iboats Before you start spending money replacing parts that are likely fine... Can the Ignition system produce a Spark that can jump a 3/8" Gap, on both Cylinders? Have you tested the Compression? Does the Prime Bulb get firm and stay firm? If it still doesn't fire, try spraying a bit...

    RPM at cranking speed

I am curious as to how one would spin an engine faster than cranking speed, without it actually running, which in itself means the Switchbox is functioning. I will assume the testing of the Switchbox is actually done with specific Electronic Test Equipment

    1972 Evinrude V4 100hp Selectric issues

Take a Picture of the control box with the Cover removed. As you know there are moving Parts in there as well as wires, the moment you moved the Go Go Lever, the engine died. Check for any movement or touching of wires to the Lever, Cable, or Housing
