Battery Charger Noco Genius or Minn Kota?

I can only tell you my experience with Minn Kota. I've had several over the years and I never had an issue. I currently have a MK 210 two bank charger in my Ebbtide 2660 and it does a great job of maintaining the two batteries. I had a big MK 460 four bank in a Bass Boat and it was fantastic...

    Another Winterization Thread!

Thanks Lou, I'll follow your instructions. You'd think that Volvo would have included that in the engine manual. Oh well, glad for all the knowledge that can be found here on iBoats forum:-)

    Another Winterization Thread!

Not to beat a horse that has already been beaten but I see some comments about making sure the power steering pump cooling water is drained. My Gi-j manual in the winter storage section makes no mention of a power steering cooling circuit. If after doing the steps given in the manual for the...

Does the antifreeze you use really matter?

I recently added a post under the Volvo Penta section about winterization. The input I got was very helpful. One thing that stood out to me was "air don't freeze"! My opinion and what my Volvo Penta service dealer did last fall is that antifreeze is not needed in a fresh water boat if the...

    The End

I'm in Tennessee and I'd love to use the Ebbtide 2660 through October and maybe into November but TVA drops Chickamauga by 6' and the drop is already under way. The problem is that with the water down it is real easy to back the trailer off the end of the ramp and my Ebbtide trailer has to be...

    Another Winterization Thread!

I really appreciate all the responses and the good natured humor:-) My boat is freshwater only, never been in salt water since new. Pretty low hours at about 120 since new. I can see how adding antifreeze will act as an anti-corrosive and that would I think be especially important in a...

    Another Winterization Thread!

At the risk of starting a fight I wanted to post this question. I'm new to an I/O boat. After purchasing my Ebbtide with an 8.1 Gi-J DPS-A last fall I had the local Volvo Penta dealer winterize it and change fluids and filter. I dewinterized it in the spring with no issues. I could not find...

    Outdrive Maintenance

This is important, I see lots of stern drive boats at the Boat Storage place we keep ours and they are parked / stored with the outdrive all the way up. This is the worst possible position for the bellows as it keeps them stretched out and accelerates splitting. Trim em down for storage:-)

    Vinyl protectant/conditioner

I just tried Turtle Wax Inside and Out Protectant. It went on well and did leave a nice shine. Time will tell if it actually holds up and protects for any length of time. It makes these claims: Cleans and protects plastic, rubber and vinyl surfaces on both the interior and exterior of your...

How do you store / transport your rolled up floating mat on your boat?

Thanks Scott, I hadn't thought of just anchoring the mat while we tube in the area. I suppose that would work out although sad to say as busy as Chickamauga is on the weekends and with more and more people today having no shame I'd be a little concerned that if my back was turned someone would...

How do you store / transport your rolled up floating mat on your boat?

Thanks Scott, I can see that it is a pain to handle. It's not heavy but bulky and awkward. I may wish I had gotten a 6' x 9' but with 5 Grandkids we decided on 6' x 15' and Sam's / Walmart had a great deal. $199 and we got it shipped free! We will be trying it out on Saturday so fingers and...

How do you store / transport your rolled up floating mat on your boat?

Hi Everyone, I'm new to family bow rider / deck boats. We just purchased a 6' x 15' closed cell floating foam mat (Members Mark from Sam's club) so the grandkids could have a place to play and hang out. I've seen people running down the lake with their mat rolled up and sitting on their swim...

VP MPI Fuel Pump Whine: a comprehensive post with info and links

In the interest of helping anyone who might come here with the dreaded VP fuel pump "whine" issue let me post my latest developments. I took my 8.1VP Gi-J boat out the first time since my purchase and it ran great. Second time out it ran great but it had a noise that sounded like an alarm or...

Hour meter not reading Faria Tach - Hour meter gage

Thanks for all the replies, I'm not sure what I'll do. I have been told an option is a standalone hour meter that resides in the engine compartment. I think it can be advanced to allow for the current hours. I'm going to check on that option. I hold out hope although slim that the current...

Hour meter not reading Faria Tach - Hour meter gage

Hi Everyone, I purchased a 2011 Ebbtide 2660 Ztrak Fun Cruiser in Oct. 2023. It showed just under 100 hours on the hour meter which is a factory Faria Tach-Hour meter gage. Just before I picked the boat up the seller had his crew (purchased from a car dealership) clean the boat up which I...

    Question about water in bilge

Thanks everyone for all the replies. I was aprehensive about putting water in the boat to find the leak so the next time I launch I'll just monitor it at the dock for a while and try to figure out where it is coming in. Makes sense to focus on the hull before running the engine. I've also...

    Question about water in bilge

Ok, I'm not new to boats but it was always bass boats until my wife and I purchased an Ebbtide 2660 (26 1/2') bowrider last fall to make memories with our Grandkids. My wife and I finally got it on the water on May 5th for a test run before we have guests onboard. Never having a docked a boat...

What trolling motor does my boat need?

You mention going up rivers. I have a 17' aluminum bass boat so not as heavy as your hull and it has a 24v 75lb thrust Motor Guide trolling motor on it. When I am river fishing and there is strong current I'm glad I have 75 lbs of thrust. My experience has been that trolling motor power is a...

    De-winterize VP 8.1 Gi-J help please

Good deal, I appreciate your input. One question, if they show signs of cracking do you think I should go back with plastic or some type of metal plug such as brass?

    De-winterize VP 8.1 Gi-J help please

I don't know if they added any anti-freeze. I don't see any signs they did. The plugs and hoses are disconnected and the service shop put a tag on my keys that the boat was winterized. Since this was a new to me used boat I decided for the first service to have it done by our local VP service...
