Outboard will only start when given 10%-30% throttle. Will not start when given full throttle or half throttle.

If an engine is Flooded, then setting the Throttle to WOT and opening the Choke is a way to potentially clear the excess Fuel, but so does going for a 15 minute walk and contemplating the Horizon.

Outboard will only start when given 10%-30% throttle. Will not start when given full throttle or half throttle.

Why in the world would you want to start an Engine at or near WOT?, Next you will be asking why a lot of Outboards can't be started in Gear

Lot more new boaters and large wakes?

I actually find the Song very Disrespectful on many Levels, having dealt with the Real Things, while helping get Underage Girls off the Streets and out of their "Managers" grasp.

Power trim options for vintage Merc inline 6's

Make sure it is a unit with Power Trim, there are some non-power trim units out there. And don't forget to get/keep all the other Electrical Parts, as the Solenoids and wiring are inside the engine Cowl with the Newer design

Power trim options for vintage Merc inline 6's

Yes the swap is doable, and requires pulling the Powerhead off the Exhaust Housing to access the Upper Rubber mounts. 1984 was the first year for the Integral Trim/Tilt System, on the Inline 4s and 6s. It will also require you to plug and seal the existing Holes in the Transom, and drill new...

No spark on my 1984 115 horsepower TOP

You said it ran before you bought it. What else changed? You had to have unhooked the Wiring Harness, when removing the Motor from where it was to transfer it to your Boat. All wires hooked up correctly?

    New to me TOP

Someone has been messing with the Idle stop, as the Locknut is backed off, and one Switchbox has had the Potting Material removed and the Components are visible, or perhaps it is an Aftermarket Part.

No spark on my 1984 115 horsepower TOP

See if it has Spark/starts. And replace the Rectifier, if you keep the engine

No spark on my 1984 115 horsepower TOP

Is the Kill Switch for the Lanyard on the Control Box in the On Position? Hooking up the Battery backward fried the Rectifier instantly. As that engine has an ADI(Alternator Driven Ignition) it will run with a Dead Battery or no Battery. The Trim System will work whether or not the Key is on.

Lot more new boaters and large wakes?

I doubt that is even 10 Watts. Hopefully a few dunkings will gum up the Voice Coils and no Noise is the result. I hear a lot of Crappy Music being played by Boaters. If they would play something relaxing like Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Motley Crue, Judas Priest, it would be OK, but no they gotta play...

Need help diagnosing temperature problem on Volvo Penta 5.0 GL-J

I once ran mine with the Hose Cap off, Dealer had left it open and didn't tell me. Water got high enough to submerge the Starter(which the Dealer removed and had it serviced). Never got hot, but I was not running it much above Idle, the boat just felt very sluggish when I did hit the Throttle...

    Mercury 850 Hot Start Issues

Welcome to iboats After it sits for 20 minutes or so, and won't start, have you tried using the Choke again? Even Numbers for Compression, doesn't mean much, as they could all be evenly Low. Check all Electrical Connections for good Contact BTW, 1977 was the last year for an 850, in 78 it was...
