Does EFI solve the hard start/cranking issue?

The Lark was Electric, the Triumph was a Hydro-Electric. I always thought both were well Engineered. Clean Oil, of the right type, and keeping water out of the Case, and they would last a long time.

De-Winterizing my 1974 Evinrude Lark 50 50472M Engine and no Crank

Can the engine be rotated by Hand? When an engine is submerged, it takes a lot longer running than 15 minutes to insure it is dried out, I always ran them over an hour , hour and a half, under load so they would get warm. You say you drained the Starter. Did you take it apart, clean, and relube...

It is a matter of Preference, as there is no right or wrong. They do provide an easy way to fine tune how the engine responds to Throttle and were developed so people weren't taking drills to their Props

    Turning Vintage and going Chrome

Like any old car, we have Creaks and Squeaks, some Body Panels are dented and creased. We take a lot longer to warm up and are slower to get moving and Rev Up, though on Occasion, seeing a Young Fresh Battery does create a Surge of Energy, however the old Battery is still lurking there, draining...

All the Plugs have curvature, even the ones with vents. The one at the top is rotated enough to make a determination difficult, and is only about 69 pixels across in that image

Small crack in fiberglass hull with stains

A bit of polyester Resin, with a Filler to thicken it applied, then a bit of Gelcoat to cover it. Myself, I would just use 2 part Epoxy Putty to fill the wound, and leave it unfinished. When selling it the Repair is visible, and it can't be mistaken for "They had to repair a very large Area..."

Will happen any place where the Humidity is High. I have seen Frost on the outside of Carburetor Throats from that same cooling effect, and have experienced icing in a few of my old cars on cold(between 0c and 6c) rainy days. Run like crap at idle until there is enough heat seeping up through...

I can tell that's a Mercury Prop. What Model is it, Laser, Mirage, Tempest, or other?(I'm feeling lazy and don't want to look it up) It looks like you boat places the Transom a few inches back from where the Bottom ends ahead of the engine(setback), that allows for a slightly higher engine...

I have searching the Various sites with Documents on old Motors but haven't come up with anything. I would think one of the M terminals on the Ignition Switch, would be where a tach would be hooked up, but I am not going to say to do that just yet. In my 1977 OMC Accessory Book, it shows two...

    Engine backfires around 2500 rpm

Could also be a crossfire from Spark Plug Wires or Distributor Cap. Acceleration increases the Voltage required to fire the Plug and Electricity doesn't where it goes, as long as it can complete the Circuit.
